⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have dug a pit before me, into the midst of which they are fallen themselves. Selah.

²² Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see the place where his hideout is, and who has seen him there: for it is told me that he deals very craftily. ²³ See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come you again to me with certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah. ²⁴ And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon. ²⁵ Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: therefore he came down to a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon. ²⁶ And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men surrounded David and his men to take them.

¹⁵ He made a pit, and dug it, and has fallen into the ditch which he made. ¹⁶ His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own crown.

¹⁵ The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. ¹⁶ The LORD is known by the judgment which he executes: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have dug for my soul. ⁸ Let destruction come upon him unawares; and let his net that he has hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

⁶ O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah.

³ When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then you knew my path. In the way in which I walked have they secretly laid a snare for me.

⁴ Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

¹⁴ The LORD upholds all that fall, and raises up all those that are bowed down.

¹⁰ Whosoever causes the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

⁵ A man that flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

² The godly man has perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

³⁷ And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very distressed. ³⁸ Then said he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry you here, and watch with me.
