¹ A Psalme of David. ²⁴ Now when Iaakob was left him selfe alone, there wrestled a man with him vnto the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And he sawe that he could not preuaile against him: therefore he touched the holowe of his thigh, and the holowe of Iaakobs thigh was loosed, as he wrestled with him. ²⁶ And he saide, Let me goe, for the morning appeareth. ⁷ Reseruing mercy for thousands, forgiuing iniquitie, and transgression and sinne, and not making the wicked innocent, visiting the iniquitie of the fathers vpon ye children, and vpon childrens children, vnto the third and fourth generation.

² And thou shalt remember all ye way which the Lord thy God led thee this fourtie yeere in the wildernesse, for to humble thee and to proue thee, to knowe what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keepe his commandements or no. ³ Therefore he humbled thee, and made thee hungry, and fed thee with MAN, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know it, that he might teache thee that man liueth not by bread onely, but by euery worde that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord, doth a man liue.

³⁴ And Dauid answered vnto Saul, Thy seruant kept his fathers sheepe, and there came a lyon, and likewise a beare, and tooke a sheepe out of the flocke, ³⁵ And I went out after him and smote him, and tooke it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by the beard, and smote him, and slue him. ³⁶ So thy seruaunt slue both the lyon, and the beare: therefore this vncircumcised Philistim shall be as one of them, seeing hee hath railed on the hoste of the liuing God. ³⁷ Moreouer Dauid sayd, The Lord that deliuered me out of the pawe of the lyon, and out of the paw of the beare, he wil deliuer me out of the hand of this Philistim. Then Saul sayd vnto Dauid, Go, and the Lord be with thee.

⁴⁵ Then sayd Dauid to the Philistim, Thou commest to me with a sword, and with a speare, and with a shield, but I come to thee in the Name of the Lord of hostes, the God of the hoste of Israel, whom thou hast rayled vpon. ⁴⁶ This day shall the Lord close thee in mine hand, and I shall smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I wil giue the carkeises of the hoste of the Philistims this daye vnto the foules of the heauen, and to the beasts of the earth, that all the world may know that Israel hath a God, ⁴⁷ And that all this assembly may know, that the Lord saueth not with sworde nor with speare (for the battel is the Lords) and he will giue you into our handes. ⁴⁸ And when the Philistim arose to come and drawe neere vnto Dauid, Dauid hasted and ran to fight against the Philistim. ⁴⁹ And Dauid put his hande in his bagge, and tooke out a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistim in his forehead, that the stone sticked in his forehead, and he fell groueling to the earth. ⁵⁰ So Dauid ouercame the Philistim with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistim, and slew him, when Dauid had no sword in his hand.

¹² Moreouer my father, behold: behold, I say, the lappe of thy garment in mine hand: for when I cut off the lappe of thy garment, I killed thee not. Vnderstad and see, that there is neither euil nor wickednesse in mee, neither haue I sinned against thee, yet thou huntest after my soule to take it. ¹³ The Lord be iudge betweene thee and me, and the Lord auenge me of thee, and let not mine hand be vpon thee. ¹⁴ According as the olde prouerbe sayeth, Wickednesse proceedeth from the wicked, but mine hand be not vpon thee. ¹⁵ After whom is the King of Israel come out? after whome doest thou pursue? after a dead dog, and after a flea?

²⁹ Yet a man hath risen vp to persecute thee, and to seeke thy soule, but the soule of my lorde shall be bounde in the bundel of life with the Lord thy God: and the soule of thine enemies shall God cast out, as out of the middle of a sling.

²² And Abner saide to Asahel, Depart from me: wherefore shoulde I smite thee to the grounde? howe then shoulde I be able to holde vp my face to Ioab thy brother?

²⁵ Nowe therefore, O Lord God, confirme for euer the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy seruant and his house, and doe as thou hast sayde.

⁴⁶ If they sinne against thee, ( for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliuer them vnto the enemies, so that they cary them away prisoners vnto the land of the enemies, either farre or neere,

²⁰ Thou gauest also thy good Spirite to instruct them, and withheldest not thy MAN from their mouth, and gauest them water for their thirst.

² I knowe verily that it is so: for howe should man compared vnto God, be iustified? ³ If I would dispute with him, hee could not answere him one thing of a thousand.

¹³ If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him:

⁸ Leade me, O Lord, in thy righteousnes, because of mine enemies: make thy way plaine before my face.

⁷ But the Lord shall sit for euer: hee hath prepared his throne for iudgement. ⁸ For he shall iudge the worlde in righteousnes, and shall iudge the people with equitie.

Howe long wilt thou forget me, O Lord, for euer? howe long wilt thou hide thy face from me? ² How long shall I take counsell within my selfe, hauing wearinesse dayly in mine heart? how long shall mine enemie be exalted aboue me? ³ Beholde, and heare mee, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, that I sleepe not in death: ⁴ Lest mine enemie say, I haue preuailed against him: and they that afflict me, reioyce when I slide.

⁸ Gracious and righteous is the Lord: therefore will he teache sinners in the way. ⁹ Them that be meeke, will hee guide in iudgement, and teach the humble his way.

¹¹ For thy Names sake, O Lord, be merciful vnto mine iniquitie, for it is great. ¹² What man is he that feareth the Lord? him wil he teache the way that hee shall chuse.

¹⁶ Turne thy face vnto mee, and haue mercie vpon me: for I am desolate and poore. ¹⁷ The sorowes of mine heart are enlarged: drawe me out of my troubles.

⁹ Hide not therefore thy face from mee, nor cast thy seruat away in displeasure: thou hast bene my succour: leaue me not, neither forsake mee, O God of my saluation.

¹¹ Teache mee thy way, O Lord, and leade me in a right path, because of mine enemies.

⁵ For he endureth but a while in his anger: but in his fauour is life: weeping may abide at euening, but ioy commeth in the morning.

⁸ I will instruct thee, and teache thee in the way that thou shalt goe, and I will guide thee with mine eye.

² My soule shall glory in the Lord: the humble shall heare it, and be glad. ³ Praise ye the Lord with me, and let vs magnifie his Name together. ⁴ I sought the Lord, and he heard me: yea, he deliuered me out of all my feare.

¹⁹ Great are the troubles of the righteous: but the Lord deliuereth him out of them all.

⁴ Let them be confounded and put to shame, that seeke after my soule: let them be turned backe, and brought to confusion, that imagine mine hurt.

³⁹ But the saluation of the righteous men shalbe of the Lord: he shalbe their strength in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ For the Lord shall helpe them, and deliuer them: he shall deliuer them from the wicked, and shall saue them, because they trust in him.

¹² For innumerable troubles haue compassed mee: my sinnes haue taken such holde vpon me, that I am not able to looke vp: yea, they are moe in nomber then the heares of mine head: therefore mine heart hath failed me. ¹³ Let it please thee, O Lord, to deliuer mee: make haste, O Lord, to helpe me.

¹⁷ Though I be poore and needie, the Lord thinketh on mee: thou art mine helper and my deliuerer: my God, make no tarying.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. As the harte brayeth for the riuers of water, so panteth my soule after thee, O God. ² My soule thirsteth for God, euen for the liuing God: when shall I come and appeare before the presence of God?

⁶ My God, my soule is cast downe within me, because I remember thee, from the land of Iorden, and Hermonim, and from the mount Mizar.

⁸ The Lord will graunt his louing kindenesse in the day, and in the night shall I sing of him, euen a prayer vnto the God of my life.

²⁰ If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,

⁵ God is in the middes of it: therefore shall it not be moued: God shall helpe it very earely.

⁵ So shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. Selah.

³ For strangers are risen vp against me, and tyrants seeke my soule: they haue not set God before them. Selah.

⁵ He shall rewarde euill vnto mine enemies: Oh cut them off in thy trueth!

¹⁷ And hide not thy face from thy seruant, for I am in trouble: make haste and heare me.

⁵ Nowe I am poore and needie: O God, make haste to me: thou art mine helper, and my deliuerer: O Lord, make no tarying.

² My soule longeth, yea, and fainteth for the courtes of the Lord: for mine heart and my flesh reioyce in the liuing God.

⁶ Wilt thou not turne againe and quicken vs, that thy people may reioyce in thee?

⁴ Reioyce the soule of thy seruant: for vnto thee, O Lord, doe I lift vp my soule.

⁴ I am counted among them that go downe vnto the pit, and am as a man without strength: ⁵ Free among the dead, like the slaine lying in the graue, whome thou remembrest no more, and they are cut off from thine hand. ⁶ Thou hast layde me in the lowest pit, in darkenes, and in the deepe.

⁹ Mine eye is sorowfull through mine affliction: Lord, I call dayly vpon thee: I stretch out mine hands vnto thee. ¹⁰ Wilt thou shewe a miracle to the dead? or shall the dead rise and prayse thee? Selah. ¹¹ Shall thy louing kindenes be declared in the graue? or thy faithfulnes in destruction?

¹⁴ Fill vs with thy mercie in the morning: so shall we reioyce and be glad all our dayes.

⁴ He hath made his wonderfull workes to be had in remembrance: the Lord is mercifull and full of compassion.

⁵ Oh that my waies were directed to keepe thy statutes! ⁶ Then should I not be confounded, when I haue respect vnto all thy commandements. ⁷ I will praise thee with an vpright heart, when I shall learne the iudgements of thy righteousnesse.

⁷ Though I walke in the middes of trouble, yet wilt thou reuiue me: thou wilt stretch foorth thine hand vpon the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall saue me.

³ Though my spirit was in perplexitie in me, yet thou knewest my path: in the way wherein I walked, haue they priuily layde a snare for me.

⁸ Also we, O Lord, haue waited for thee in the way of thy iudgemets: the desire of our soule is to thy Name, and to the remembrance of thee. ⁹ With my soule haue I desired thee in the night, and with my spirit within mee will I seeke thee in the morning: for seeing thy iudgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learne righteousnesse.

¹⁰ For the Lord hath couered you with a spirite of slumber, and hath shut vp your eyes: the Prophets, and your chiefe Seers hath he couered.

²¹ And thine eares shall heare a worde behind thee, saying, This is the way, walke ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand, and when thou turnest to the left.

⁷ And the dry ground shalbe as a poole, and the thirstie (as springs of water in the habitation of dragons: where they lay) shall be a place for reedes and rushes.

¹⁸ For the graue cannot confesse thee: death cannot praise thee: they that goe downe into the pit, cannot hope for thy trueth.

¹⁷ Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer, the Holy one of Israel, I am the Lord thy God, which teach thee to profite, and lead thee by the way, that thou shouldest goe.

² O Lord, I haue heard thy voyce, and was afraide: O Lord, reuiue thy worke in the mids of the people, in the mids of the yeeres make it knowen: in wrath remember mercy.

²⁰ Teaching them to obserue all things, whatsoeuer I haue commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, vntill the ende of the worlde, Amen.

²⁶ And mens hearts shall faile them for feare, and for looking after those thinges which shall come on the worlde: for the powers of heauen shall be shaken.

⁴⁴ But being in an agonie, hee prayed more earnestly: and his sweate was like drops of blood, trickling downe to the ground.

³⁷ Nowe in the last and great day of the feast, Iesus stoode and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come vnto me, and drinke.

²⁶ But the Comforter, which is the holy Ghost, whom the Father wil send in my Name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, which I haue tolde you.

¹³ Howbeit, when he is come which is the Spirit of trueth, he will leade you into all trueth: for he shall not speake of himselfe, but whatsoeuer he shall heare, shall he speake, and he will shew you the things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorifie me: for he shall receiue of mine, and shall shewe it vnto you. ¹⁵ All thinges that the Father hath, are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shewe it vnto you.

²⁰ Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.

⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed, because the loue of God is shed abroade in our heartes by the holy Ghost, which is giuen vnto vs.

² For the Lawe of the Spirite of life, which is in Christ Iesus, hath freed mee from the lawe of sinne and of death.

¹⁴ For as many as are ledde by the Spirit of God, they are the sonnes of God. ¹⁵ For ye haue not receiued the Spirit of bodage, to feare againe: but ye haue receiued the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The same Spirit beareth witnesse with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we knowe not what to pray as wee ought: but the Spirit it selfe maketh request for vs with sighs, which cannot be expressed.

¹³ Nowe the God of hope fill you with all ioye, and peace in beleeuing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the holy Ghost.

³⁰ Also brethren, I beseeche you for our Lord Iesus Christes sake, and for the loue of the spirit, that ye would striue with me by prayers to God for me,

¹⁶ Knowe that a man is not iustified by the works of the Law, but by ye faith of Iesus Christ, euen we, I say, haue beleeued in Iesus Christ, that we might be iustified by the faith of Christ, and not by the workes of the Lawe, because that by the workes of the Lawe, no flesh shalbe iustified.

²² But the fruite of the Spirit is loue, ioye, peace, long suffering, gentlenes, goodnes, fayth, ²³ Meekenesse, temperancie: against such there is no lawe.

⁴ But God which is rich in mercie, through his great loue wherewith he loued vs, ⁵ Euen when we were dead by sinnes, hath quickened vs together in Christ, by whose grace ye are saued,

³⁰ And grieue not the holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed vnto ye day of redemption.

⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit is in al goodnes, and righteousnes, and trueth)

⁹ For this cause wee also, since the day wee heard of it, cease not to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be fulfilled with knowledge of his will in all wisdome, and spirituall vnderstanding, ¹⁰ That ye might walke worthy of the Lord, and please him in all things, being fruitefull in all good workes, and increasing in the knowledge of God,

¹ And furthermore we beseeche you, brethren, and exhort you in the Lord Iesus, that ye increase more and more, as ye haue receiued of vs, how ye ought to walke, and to please God. ² For ye knowe what commandements we gaue you by the Lord Iesus.

⁷ For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, wherein it is vnpossible that God should lye, we might haue strong consolation, which haue our refuge to lay holde vpon that hope that is set before vs,

²¹ Make you perfect in all good workes, to doe his will, working in you that which is pleasant in his sight through Iesus Christ, to whom be praise for euer and euer, Amen.

⁹ If we acknowledge our sinnes, he is faithfull and iust, to forgiue vs our sinnes, and to clense vs from all vnrighteousnes. ¹⁰ If wee say we haue not sinned, wee make him a liar, and his word is not in vs.

²⁷ But that anointing which ye receiued of him, dwelleth in you: and ye neede not that any man teach you: but as the same Anoynting teacheth you of all things, and it is true, and is not lying, and as it taught you, ye shall abide in him.

¹⁴ And I saide vnto him, Lord, thou knowest. And he saide to me, These are they, which came out of great tribulation, and haue washed their long robes, and haue made their long robes white in the blood of the Lambe. ¹⁵ Therefore are they in the presence of the throne of God, and serue him day and night in his Temple, and he that sitteth on the throne, wil dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, neither shall the sunne light on them, neither any heate. ¹⁷ For the Lambe, which is in the middes of the throne, shall gouerne them, and shall leade them vnto the liuely fountaines of waters, and God shall wipe away all teares from their eyes.
