² And when the Pharises sawe it, they saide vnto him, Beholde, thy disciples doe that which is not lawfull to doe vpon the Sabbath.

⁹ Sixe dayes shalt thou labour, and doe all thy worke, ¹⁰ But the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any worke, thou, nor thy sonne, nor thy daughter, thy man seruant, nor thy mayde, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. ¹¹ For in sixe dayes the Lord made the heauen and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seuenth day: therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

¹² Sixe dayes thou shalt do thy worke, and in the seuenth day thou shalt rest, that thine oxe, and thine asse may rest, and the sonne of thy maide and the stranger may be refreshed.

¹⁵ Sixe dayes shall men worke, but in the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the holy rest to the Lord: whosoeuer doeth any worke in the Sabbath day, shall dye the death. ¹⁶ Wherfore the children of Israel shall keepe the Sabbath, that they may obserue the rest throughout their generations for an euerlasting couenant. ¹⁷ It is a signe betweene me and the children of Israel for euer: for in sixe dayes the Lord made the heauen and the earth, and in the seuenth day he ceased, and rested.

² Six dayes thou shalt work, but the seuenth day shall bee vnto you the holy Sabbath of rest vnto the Lord: whosoeuer doth any worke therein, shall die.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wildernesse, they found a man that gathered stickes vpon the Sabbath day. ³³ And they that found him gathering sticks, brought him vnto Moses and to Aaron, and vnto all the Congregation, ³⁴ And they put him warde: for it was not declared what should be done vnto him. ³⁵ Then the Lord said vnto Moses, This man shall dye the death: and let al the multitude stone him with stones without the hoste. ³⁶ And all the Congregation brought him without the hoste, and stoned him with stones, and he died, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

¹³ If thou turne away thy foote from the Sabbath, from doing thy will on mine holy day, and call the Sabbath a delite, to consecrate it, as glorious to the Lord, and shalt honour him, not doing thine owne wayes, nor seeking thine owne will, nor speaking a vaine word,

¹⁰ And beholde, there was a man which had his hand dried vp. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawfull to heale vpon a Sabbath day? that they might accuse him.

² And they watched him, whether he would heale him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him. ³ Then he saide vnto the man which had the withered hand, Arise: stand forth in the middes. ⁴ And he saide to them, Is it lawfull to doe a good deede on the Sabbath day, or to doe euil? to saue the life, or to kill? But they held their peace. ⁵ Then hee looked rounde about on them angerly, mourning also for the hardnesse of their hearts, and saide to the man, Stretch foorth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hande was restored, as whole as the other.

⁶ It came to passe also on another Sabbath, that hee entred into the Synagogue, and taught, and there was a man, whose right hand was dryed vp. ⁷ And the Scribes and Pharises watched him, whether he would heale on the Sabbath day, that they might finde an accusation against him. ⁸ But he knew their thoughts, and sayd to the man which had the withered hand, Arise, and stand vp in the middes. And hee arose, and stoode vp. ⁹ Then sayd Iesus vnto them, I will aske you a question, Whether is it lawfull on the Sabbath dayes to doe good, or to doe euill? to saue life, or to destroy? ¹⁰ And he behelde them all in compasse, and sayd vnto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he did so, and his hand was restored againe, as whole as the other. ¹¹ Then they were filled full of madnes, and communed one with another, what they might doe to Iesus.

¹⁰ And he taught in one of ye Synagogues on the Sabbath day. ¹¹ And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmitie eighteene yeeres, and was bowed together, and coulde not lift vp her selfe in any wise. ¹² When Iesus sawe her, he called her to him, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thy disease. ¹³ And he laide his handes on her, and immediately she was made straight againe, and glorified God. ¹⁴ And the ruler of the Synagogue answered with indignation, because that Iesus healed on the Sabbath day, and said vnto the people, There are sixe dayes in which men ought to worke: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day. ¹⁵ Then answered him the Lord, and said, Hypocrite, doth not eche one of you on the Sabbath day loose his oxe or his asse from the stall, and leade him away to the water? ¹⁶ And ought not this daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, loe, eighteene yeeres, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day? ¹⁷ And when he said these things, all his aduersaries were ashamed: but all the people reioyced at all the excellent things, that were done by him.

³ Then Iesus answering, spake vnto the Lawyers and Pharises, saying, Is it lawfull to heale on the Sabbath day?

⁵⁶ And they returned and prepared odours, and ointments, and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandement.

⁹ And immediatly the man was made whole, and tooke vp his bed, and walked: and the same day was the Sabbath. ¹⁰ The Iewes therefore said to him that was made whole, It is the Sabbath day: it is not lawfull for thee to cary thy bed. ¹¹ He answered them, He that made me whole, he said vnto me, Take vp thy bed, and walke.

¹⁶ And therefore the Iewes did persecute Iesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the Sabbath day. ¹⁷ But Iesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I worke.

²¹ Iesus answered, and saide to them, I haue done one worke, and ye all maruaile. ²² Moses therefore gaue vnto you circumcision, (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers) and ye on the Sabbath day circumcise a man. ²³ If a man on the Sabbath receiue circumcision, that the Lawe of Moses should not be broken, be ye angrie with me, because I haue made a man euery whit whole on the Sabbath day? ²⁴ Iudge not according to the appearance, but iudge righteous iudgement.

¹⁴ And it was the Sabbath day, when Iesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. ¹⁵ Then againe the Pharises also asked him, how he had receiued sight. And hee sayd vnto them, He layd clay vpon mine eyes, and I washed, and doe see. ¹⁶ Then said some of the Pharises, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the Sabbath day. Others sayd, Howe can a man that is a sinner, doe such miracles? and there was a dissension among them.
