¹⁷ And this I say, that the couenant that was confirmed afore of God in respect of Christ, the Lawe which was foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres after, can not disanull, that it shoulde make the promise of none effect.

¹³ Then he saide to Abram, Knowe for a suretie, that thy seede shalbe a stranger in a land, that is not theirs, foure hundreth yeeres, and shall serue them: and they shall intreate them euill.

¹⁸ In that same day the Lord made a couenant with Abram, saying, Vnto thy seede haue I giuen this lande, from the riuer of Egypt vnto the great riuer, the riuer Euphrates.

⁷ Moreouer I wil establish my couenant betweene me and thee, and thy seede after thee in their generations, for an euerlasting couenant, to be God vnto thee and to thy seede after thee. ⁸ And I will giue thee and thy seede after thee the land, wherein thou art a stranger, euen all the land of Canaan, for an euerlasting possession, and I will be their God.

¹⁹ Then God saide, Sarah thy wife shall beare thee a sonne in deede, and thou shalt call his name Izhak: and I will establish my couenant with him for an euerlasting couenant, and with his seede after him.

⁴⁰ So the dwelling of the children of Israel, while they dwelled in Egypt, was foure hundreth and thirtie yeres. ⁴¹ And when the foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres were expired, euen the selfe same day departed all the hostes of the Lord out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁹ God is not as man, that he should lie, neither as the sonne of man that he shoulde repent: hath he sayde and shall he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shall he not accomplish it?

⁸ If her husband heard it, and holdeth his peace concerning her, the same day he heareth it, then her vowe shall stande, and her bondes wherewith she bindeth her selfe shall stand in effect.

⁸ Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in a secret place.

¹⁰ The Lord breaketh the counsell of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the deuices of the people.

²⁷ Because the Lord of hostes hath determined it, and who shall disanull it? and his hande is stretched out, and who shall turne it away?

¹⁸ And your couenant with death shalbe disanulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand: when a scourge shall runne ouer and passe through, then shall ye be trode downe by it.

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, because he hath visited and redeemed his people, ⁶⁹ And hath raised vp the horne of saluation vnto vs, in the house of his seruant Dauid, ⁷⁰ As he spake by ye mouth of his holy Prophets, which were since the world began, saying, ⁷¹ That he would sende vs deliuerance from our enemies, and from the hands of all that hate vs, ⁷² That he might shewe mercie towards our fathers, and remember his holy couenant, ⁷³ And the othe which he sware to our father Abraham. ⁷⁴ Which was, that he would graunt vnto vs, that we being deliuered out of the handes of our enemies, should serue him without feare, ⁷⁵ All the daies of our life, in holinesse and righteousnesse before him. ⁷⁶ And thou, babe, shalt be called the Prophet of the most High: for thou shalt goe before the face of the Lord, to prepare his waies, ⁷⁷ And to giue knowledge of saluation vnto his people, by the remission of their sinnes, ⁷⁸ Through ye tender mercy of our God, wherby the day spring from an hie hath visited vs, ⁷⁹ To giue light to them that sit in darknes, and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feete into the way of peace.

¹⁷ For the Lawe was giuen by Moses, but grace, and trueth came by Iesus Christ.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham reioyced to see my day, and he sawe it, and was glad. ⁵⁷ Then sayd ye Iewes vnto him, Thou art not yet fiftie yeere olde, and hast thou seene Abraham? ⁵⁸ Iesus sayd vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, before Abraham was, I am.

⁶ But God spake thus, that his seede should be a soiourner in a strange land: and that they should keepe it in bondage, and entreate it euill foure hundreth yeeres.

³ For what, though some did not beleeue? shall their vnbeliefe make the faith of God without effect?

²⁵ Whom God hath set forth to be a reconciliation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousnes, by the forgiuenesse of the sinnes that are passed,

¹³ For the promise that he should be the heire of the worlde, was not giuen to Abraham, or to his seede, through the Lawe, but through the righteousnesse of faith. ¹⁴ For if they which are of the Lawe, be heires, faith is made voide, and the promise is made of none effect.

¹² Nowe this I say, that euery one of you saith, I am Pauls, and I am Apollos, and I am Cephas, and I am Christs.

¹⁷ For CHRIST sent me not to baptize, but to preache the Gospel, not with wisdome of wordes, lest the crosse of Christ should be made of none effect.

²⁹ And this I say, brethren, because the time is short, hereafter that both they which haue wiues, be as though they had none:

¹⁹ What say I then? that the idole is any thing? or that that which is sacrificed to idoles, is any thing?

²⁰ For all the promises of God in him are Yea, and are in him Amen, vnto the glorie of God through vs.

⁶ This yet remember, that he which soweth sparingly, shall reape also sparingly, and hee that soweth liberally, shall reape also liberally.

¹⁵ Brethren, I speake as men do: though it be but a mans couenant, when it is confirmed, yet no man doeth abrogate it, or addeth any thing thereto.

²¹ Is the Lawe then against the promises of God? God forbid: For if there had bene a Lawe giuen which coulde haue giuen life, surely righteousnes should haue bene by the Lawe.

⁴ Ye are abolished from Christ: whosoeuer are iustified by the Law, ye are fallen from grace.

¹⁶ Then I say, Walke in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lustes of the flesh.

¹⁷ This I say therefore and testifie in the Lord, that yee hencefoorth walke not as other Gentiles walke, in vanitie of their minde,

⁴ And this I say, lest any man shoulde beguile you with entising wordes:

¹³ For when God made the promise to Abraham, because he had no greater to sweare by, he sware by himselfe, ¹⁴ Saying, Surely I wil aboundantly blesse thee and multiplie thee marueilously. ¹⁵ And so after that he had taried patiently, he enioyed the promise. ¹⁶ For men verely sweare by him that is greater then themselues, and an othe for confirmation is among them an ende of all strife. ¹⁷ So God, willing more aboundantly to shew vnto the heires of promise the stablenes of his counsell, bound himselfe by an othe, ¹⁸ That by two immutable things, wherein it is vnpossible that God should lye, we might haue strong consolation, which haue our refuge to lay holde vpon that hope that is set before vs,

¹⁸ For the commandement that went afore, is disanulled, because of the weakenes thereof, and vnprofitablenes.

¹³ All these died in faith, and receiued not the promises, but sawe them a farre off, and beleeued them, and receiued them thankefully, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham offered vp Isaac, when he was tryed, and he that had receiued the promises, offered his onely begotten sonne. ¹⁸ (To whom it was said, In Isaac shall thy seede be called.) ¹⁹ For he considered that God was able to raise him vp euen from the dead: from whence he receiued him also after a sort.

³⁹ And these all through faith obteined good report, and receiued not the promise, ⁴⁰ God prouiding a better thing for vs, that they without vs should not be made perfite.

¹¹ Searching when or what time the Spirite which testified before of Christ which was in them, shoulde declare the sufferings that should come vnto Christ, and the glorie that shoulde follow. ¹² Vnto whome it was reueiled, that not vnto themselues, but vnto vs they shoulde minister the things, which are nowe shewed vnto you by them which haue preached vnto you the Gospell by the holy Ghost sent downe from heauen, the which things the Angels desire to beholde.

²⁰ Which was ordeined before the foundation of the world, but was declared in the last times for your sakes,
