³ Sonne of man, speake vnto the Elders of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Are ye come to enquire of me? as I liue, sayth the Lord God, when I am asked, I wil not answer you.

⁶ Therefore Saul asked counsel of the Lord, and the Lord answered him not, neither by dreames, nor by Vrim, nor yet by Prophets.

¹⁵ And call vpon me in the day of trouble: so will I deliuer thee, and thou shalt glorifie me. ¹⁶ But vnto the wicked said God, What hast thou to doe to declare mine ordinances, that thou shouldest take my couenant in thy mouth, ¹⁷ Seeing thou hatest to bee reformed, and hast cast my wordes behinde thee? ¹⁸ For when thou seest a thiefe, thou runnest with him, and thou art partaker with the adulterers. ¹⁹ Thou giuest thy mouth to euill, and with thy tongue thou forgest deceit. ²⁰ Thou sittest, and speakest against thy brother, and slanderest thy mothers sonne. ²¹ These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue: therefore thou thoughtest that I was like thee: but I will reproue thee, and set them in order before thee.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.

²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more when he bringeth it with a wicked minde?

⁹ He that turneth away his eare from hearing the Law, euen his prayer shalbe abominable.

¹² When ye come to appeare before me, who required this of your hands to tread in my courts?

¹⁵ And when you shall stretch out your hands, I wil hide mine eyes from you: and though ye make many prayers, I wil not heare: for your hands are full of blood.

³ Sonne of man, these men haue set vp their idoles in their heart, and put the stumbling blocke of their iniquitie before their face: should I, being required, answere them? ⁴ Therefore speake vnto them, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Euery man of the house of Israel that setteth vp his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling blocke of his iniquitie before his face, and commeth to the Prophet, I the Lord will answere him that commeth, according to the multitude of his idoles:

⁷ For euery one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that soiourneth in Israel, which departeth from mee, and setteth vp his idoles in his heart, and putteth the stumbling blocke of his iniquitie before his face, and commeth to a Prophet, for to inquire of him for me, I the Lord will answere him for my selfe, ⁸ And I will set my face against that man, and will make him an example and prouerbe, and I will cut him off from the middes of my people, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lord.

³¹ For when you offer your giftes, and make your sonnes to passe through the fire, you pollute your selues with all your idoles vnto this day: shall I answere you when I am asked, O house of Israel? As I liue, saith the Lord God, I wil not answere you when I am asked.

⁷ Then shall the Seers bee ashamed, and the southsayers confounded: yea, they shall all couer their lippes, for they haue none answere of God.

⁷ Now when he sawe many of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces come to his baptisme, he said vnto them, O generations of vipers, who hath forewarned you to flee from the anger to come?

⁸ This people draweth neere vnto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with the lips, but their heart is farre off from me. ⁹ But in vaine they worship me, teaching for doctrines, mens precepts.

⁷ Then said he to the people that were come out to be baptized of him, O generations of vipers, who hath forewarned you to flee from the wrath to come?

²⁴ God is a Spirite, and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and trueth.
