⁵ For the liuing knowe that they shall dye, but the dead knowe nothing at all: neither haue they any more a rewarde: for their remembrance is forgotten.

⁸ The eye that hath seene me, shall see me no more: thine eyes are vpon me, and I shall be no longer. ⁹ As the cloude vanisheth and goeth away, so he that goeth downe to the graue, shall come vp no more. ¹⁰ He shall returne no more to his house, neither shall his place knowe him any more.

²¹ And he knoweth not if his sonnes shall be honourable, neither shall he vnderstand concerning them, whether they shalbe of lowe degree,

²³ Surely I knowe that thou wilt bring mee to death, and to the house appoynted for all the liuing.

⁵ For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the graue who shall prayse thee?

¹⁰ Wilt thou shewe a miracle to the dead? or shall the dead rise and prayse thee? Selah. ¹¹ Shall thy louing kindenes be declared in the graue? or thy faithfulnes in destruction? ¹² Shall thy wonderous workes be knowen in the darke? and thy righteousnes in the land of obliuion?

¹⁵ But let them alway be before the Lord, that he may cut off their memorial from ye earth.

¹¹ There is no memorie of the former, neither shall there be a remembrance of the latter that shalbe, with them that shall come after.

¹⁶ For there shalbe no remembrance of the wise, nor of the foole for euer: for that that now is, in the dayes to come shall all be forgotten. And howe dyeth the wise man, as doeth the foole?

² For who knoweth what is good for man in the life and in the nomber of the dayes of the life of his vanitie, seeing he maketh them as a shadowe? For who can shewe vnto man what shall be after him vnder the sunne?

¹⁰ And likewise I sawe the wicked buried, and they returned, and they that came from the holy place, were yet forgotten in the citie where they had done right: this also is vanitie.

¹⁴ The dead shall not liue, neither shall the dead arise, because thou hast visited and scattered them, and destroyed all their memorie.

¹⁶ Doutles thou art our Father: though Abraham be ignorant of vs, and Israel knowe vs not, yet thou, O Lord, art our Father, and our redeemer: thy Name is for euer.

²⁷ And as it is appointed vnto men that they shall once die, and after that commeth the iudgement:
