⁷ And whe they had set them before them, they asked, By what power, or in what Name haue ye done this?

¹⁴ And hee answered, Who made thee a man of authoritie, and a iudge ouer vs? Thinkest thou to kill mee, as thou killedst the Egyptian? Then Moses feared and sayde, Certainly this thing is knowen.

¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth among the chiefe of the people, ¹³ And there came two wicked men, and sate before him: and the wicked men witnessed against Naboth in the presence of the people saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the King. Then they caried him away out of the citie, and stoned him with stones, that he dyed. ¹⁴ Then they sent to Iezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned and is dead.

²³ And whe he was come into the Temple, the chiefe Priestes, and the Elders of the people came vnto him, as he was teaching, and saide, By what authoritie doest thou these things? and who gaue thee this authoritie?

²⁸ And said vnto him, By what authoritie doest thou these things? and who gaue thee this authoritie, that thou shouldest doe these things?

¹⁸ Then answered the Iewes, and saide vnto him, What signe shewest thou vnto vs, that thou doest these things?

³ Then the Scribes, and the Pharises brought vnto him a woman, taken in adulterie, and set her in the middes,

⁹ And when they heard it, being accused by their owne conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at ye eldest euen to the last: so Iesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the mids.

¹⁰ Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye haue crucified, whome God raised againe from the dead, euen by him doth this man stand here before you, whole.

²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the Councill, and the chiefe Priest asked them, ²⁸ Saying, Did not we straightly commaund you, that ye should not teach in this Name? and behold, ye haue filled Hierusale with your doctrine, and ye would bring this mans blood vpon vs.

⁴⁰ And to him they agreed, and called the Apostles: and when they had beaten them, they commanded that they should not speake in the Name of Iesus, and let them goe.
