³ And though I feede the poore with all my goods, and though I giue my body, that I be burned, and haue not loue, it profiteth me nothing.

¹² I will declare thy righteousnes and thy workes, and they shall not profite thee.

⁸ Beholde, you trust in lying woordes, that can not profite.

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the King, O Nebuchad-nezzar, we are not carefull to answere thee in this matter. ¹⁷ Beholde, our God whom we serue, is able to deliuer vs from the hote fierie fornace, and hee will deliuer vs out of thine hand, O King. ¹⁸ But if not, bee it knowen to thee, O King, that wee will not serue thy gods, nor worship the golden image, which thou hast set vp. ¹⁹ Then was Nebuchad-nezzar full of rage, and the forme of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore hee charged and commanded that they should heate the fornace at once seuen times more then it was wont to be heat. ²⁰ And hee charged the most valiant men of warre that were in his armie, to binde Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the hote fierie fornace. ²¹ So these men were bounde in their coates, their hosen, and their clokes, with their other garments, and cast into the middes of the hote fierie fornace. ²² Therefore, because the Kings commandement was straite, that the fornace should be exceeding hote, the flame of the fire slew those men that brought foorth Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. ²³ And these three men Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego fell downe bound into the middes of the hote fierie fornace. ²⁴ Then Nebuchad-nezzar the King was astonied and rose vp in haste, and spake, and saide vnto his counsellers, Did not wee cast three men bound into the middes of the fire? Who answered and said vnto the King, It is true, O King. ²⁵ And he answered, and said, Loe, I see foure men loose, walking in the middes of the fire, and they haue no hurt, and the forme of the fourth is like the sonne of God. ²⁶ Then the King Nebuchad-nezzar came neere to the mouth of the hote fierie fornace, and spake and said, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the seruants of the hie God goe foorth and come hither: so Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came foorth of the middes of the fire. ²⁷ Then the nobles, princes and dukes, and the Kings counsellers came together to see these men, because the fire had no power ouer their bodies: for not an heare of their head was burnt, neither was their coates changed, nor any smelll of fire came vpon them. ²⁸ Wherefore Nebuchad-nezzar spake and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who hath sent his Angel, and deliuered his seruants, that put their trust in him, and haue changed the Kings commandement, and yeelded their bodies rather then they would serue or worship any god, saue their owne God.

¹ Take heede that ye giue not your almes before men, to be seene of them, or els ye shall haue no reward of your Father which is in heaue. ² Therefore when thou giuest thine almes, thou shalt not make a trumpet to be blowen before thee, as the hypocrites doe in the Synagogues and in the streetes, to be praysed of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde. ³ But when thou doest thine almes, let not thy left hand knowe what thy right hand doeth, ⁴ That thine almes may be in secret, and thy Father that seeth in secret, hee will rewarde thee openly.

²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, haue we not by thy Name prophecied? and by thy name cast out deuils? and by thy name done many great workes? ²³ And then will I professe to them, I neuer knewe you: depart from me, ye that worke iniquitie.

⁵ All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments,

²² Nowe when Iesus heard that, he saide vnto him, Yet lackest thou one thing. Sell all that euer thou hast, and distribute vnto the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come follow mee.

²⁸ Then Peter said, Loe, we haue left all, and haue followed thee.

⁸ And Zaccheus stood forth, and said vnto the Lord, Beholde, Lord, the halfe of my goods I giue to the poore: and if I haue taken from any man by forged cauillation, I restore him foure folde.

³ And he sayd, Of a trueth I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast in more then they all. ⁴ For they all haue of their superfluitie cast into the offerings of God: but she of her penurie hath cast in all the liuing that she had.

⁶³ It is the spirite that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing: the woordes that I speake vnto you, are spirite and life.

⁴³ For they loued the prayse of men, more then the prayse of God.

³⁷ Peter sayd vnto him, Lord, why can I not follow thee now? I will lay downe my life for thy sake.

¹³ Greater loue then this hath no man, when any man bestoweth his life for his friendes.

¹³ Then Paul answered, and sayd, What doe ye weeping and breaking mine heart? For I am ready not to be bound onely, but also to die at Hierusalem for the Name of the Lord Iesus.

²⁶ Let vs not be desirous of vaine glorie, prouoking one another, enuying one another.

¹⁵ Some preache. Christ euen through enuie and strife, and some also of good will. ¹⁶ The one part preacheth Christ of contention and not purely, supposing to adde more affliction to my bandes. ¹⁷ But the others of loue, knowing that I am set for the defence of the Gospell. ¹⁸ What then? yet Christ is preached all maner wayes, whether it be vnder a pretence, or syncerely: and I therein ioye: yea and will ioye.

²⁰ As I feruently looke for, and hope, that in nothing I shalbe ashamed, but that with all confidence, as alwayes, so nowe Christ shalbe magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death. ²¹ For Christ is to me both in life, and in death aduantage.

³ That nothing be done through contention or vaine glory, but that in meekenesse of minde euery man esteeme other better then himselfe.

⁸ For bodily exercise profiteth litle: but godlinesse is profitable vnto all things, which hath the promise of the life present, and of that that is to come.

⁹ Be not caried about with diuers and strange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be stablished with grace, and not with meates, which haue not profited them that haue bene occupied therein.

¹⁴ What auaileth it, my brethren, though a man saith he hath faith, when he hath no workes? can that faith saue him? ¹⁵ For if a brother or a sister bee naked and destitute of daily foode, ¹⁶ And one of you say vnto them, Depart in peace: warme your selues, and fil your bellies, notwithstading ye giue them not those things which are needefull to the body, what helpeth it? ¹⁷ Euen so the faith, if it haue no woorkes, is dead in it selfe.
