¹⁷ For what is the good thing of him, and what is his beautiful thing, but the corn of the elect, and wine springing forth virgins?

¹¹ Who is like to thee, among the strong, O Lord? who is like to thee, glorious in holiness, terrible and praise-worthy, doing wonders?

⁵ For thou, O Lord, art sweet and mild: and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon thee.

¹⁵ And thou, O Lord, art a God of compassion, and merciful, patient, and of much mercy, and true.

¹⁷ And let the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us: and direct thou the works of our hands over us; yea, the work of our hands do thou direct.

⁷ They shall publish the memory of the abundance of thy sweetness: and shall rejoice in thy justice.

¹⁰ My beloved is white and ruddy, chosen out of thousands.

⁹ Thy throat like the best wine, worthy for my beloved to drink, and for his lips and his teeth to ruminate.

¹⁷ His eyes shall see the king in his beauty, they shall see the land far off.

⁸ The Lord hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength: Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thy enemies: and the sons of the strangers shall not drink thy wine, for which thou hast laboured. ⁹ For they that gather it, shall eat it, and shall praise the Lord: and they that bring it together, shall drink it in my holy courts.

⁷ I will remember the tender mercies of the Lord, the praise of the Lord for all the things that the Lord hath bestowed upon us, and for the multitude of his good things to the house of Israel, which he hath given them according to his kindness, and according to the multitude of his mercies.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and behold from thy holy habitation and the place of thy glory: where is thy zeal, and thy strength, the multitude of thy bowels, and of thy mercies? they have held back themselves from me.

¹³ Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold my servants shall eat, and you shall be hungry: behold my servants shall drink, and you shall be thirsty. ¹⁴ Behold my servants shall rejoice, and you shall be confounded: behold my servants shall praise for joyfulness of heart, and you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for grief of spirit.

¹² And they shall come, and shall give praise in mount Sion: and they shall flow together to the good things of the Lord, for the corn, and wine, and oil, and the increase of cattle and herds, and their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall be hungry no more.

²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day: I will hear, saith the Lord, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth. ²² And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil, and these shall hear Jezrahel.

²⁶ And you shall eat in plenty, and shall be filled and you shall praise the name of the Lord your God; who hath done wonders with you, and my people shall not be confounded for ever.

¹⁸ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down sweetness, aud the hills shall flow with milk: and waters shall flow through all the rivers of Juda: and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the Lord, and shall water the torrent of thorns.

¹¹ Behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will send forth a famine into the land: not a famine of bread, nor a thirst of water, but of hearing the word of the Lord. ¹² And they shall move from sea to sea, and from the north to the east: they shall go about seeking the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. ¹³ In that day the fair virgins, and the young men shall faint for thirst. ¹⁴ They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say: Thy God, O Dan, liveth: and the way of Bersabee liveth: and they shall fall, and shall rise no more.

¹³ Behold the days come, saith the Lord, when the ploughman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed: and the mountains shall drop sweetness, and every hill shall be tilled. ¹⁴ And I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel: and they shall build the abandoned cities, and inhabit them: and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine of them: and shall make gardens, and eat the fruits of them.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.

⁸ But God commendeth his charity towards us: because when as yet we were sinners according to the time.

²⁰ Now the law entered in that sin might abound. And where sin abounded, grace did more abound.

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Jesus Christ our Lord: and ourselves your servants through Jesus. ⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Christ Jesus.

⁷ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his, grace, ⁸ Which hath superabounded in us, in all wisdom and prudence,

⁴ But God (who is rich in mercy) for his exceeding charity wherewith he loved us ⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ (by whose grace you are saved)

¹⁸ You may be able to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, ¹⁹ To know also the charity of Christ, which surpasseth all knowledge: that you may be filled unto all the fulness of God.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury: but be ye filled with the Holy Spirit, ¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord:

⁴ But when the goodness and kindness of God our Saviour appeared: ⁵ Not by the works of justice which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us, by the laver of regeneration and renovation of the Holy Ghost. ⁶ Whom he hath poured forth upon us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour: ⁷ That, being justified by his grace, we may be heirs according to hope of life everlasting.

⁸ He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is charity. ⁹ By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him. ¹⁰ In this is charity: not as though we had loved God, but because he hath first loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ My dearest, if God hath so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

¹² Saying with a loud voice: The Lamb that was slain is worthy to receive power and divinity and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and benediction. ¹³ And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard all saying: To him that sitteth on the throne and to the Lamb, benediction and honour and glory and power, for ever and ever. ¹⁴ And the four living creatures said: Amen. And the four and twenty ancients fell down on their faces and adored him that liveth for ever and ever.
