³¹ For by these he judgeth the peoples;
He giveth food in abundance.

¹⁷ And I, behold, I do bring the flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is in the earth shall die.

¹⁷ And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed, and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high mountains that were under the whole heaven were covered. ²⁰ Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. ²¹ And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both birds, and cattle, and beasts, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: ²² all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was on the dry land, died. ²³ And every living thing was destroyed that was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and creeping things, and birds of the heavens; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only was left, and they that were with him in the ark. ²⁴ And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.

²⁴ Then Jehovah rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven;

²³ And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and Jehovah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down unto the earth; and Jehovah rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴ So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. ²⁵ And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.

² And thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not.

¹⁵ who led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, [wherein were] fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

¹¹ And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon, that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more who died with the hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

¹⁰ They that strive with Jehovah shall be broken to pieces;
Against them will he thunder in heaven:
Jehovah will judge the ends of the earth;
And he will give strength unto his king,
And exalt the horn of his anointed.

¹⁰ And as Samuel was offering up the burnt-offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel; but Jehovah thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten down before Israel.

¹⁸ So Samuel called unto Jehovah; and Jehovah sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared Jehovah and Samuel.

¹³ Whether it be for correction, or for his land,
Or for lovingkindness, that he cause it to come.

²² Hast thou entered the treasuries of the snow,
Or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, ²³ Which I have reserved against the time of trouble,
Against the day of battle and war?

²⁶ To cause it to rain on a land where no man is;
On the wilderness, wherein there is no man; ²⁷ To satisfy the waste and desolate [ground],
And to cause the tender grass to spring forth?

⁹ Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it,
Thou greatly enrichest it;
The river of God is full of water:
Thou providest them grain, when thou hast so prepared the earth. ¹⁰ Thou waterest its furrows abundantly;
Thou settlest the ridges thereof:
Thou makest it soft with showers;
Thou blessest the springing thereof. ¹¹ Thou crownest the year with thy goodness;
And thy paths drop fatness. ¹² They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness;
And the hills are girded with joy. ¹³ The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered over with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.

¹³ He watereth the mountains from his chambers:
The earth is filled with the fruit of thy works. ¹⁴ He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle,
And herb for the service of man;
That he may bring forth food out of the earth, ¹⁵ And wine that maketh glad the heart of man,
[And] oil to make his face to shine,
And bread that strengtheneth man's heart.

²⁷ These wait all for thee,
That thou mayest give them their food in due season. ²⁸ Thou givest unto them, they gather;
Thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good.

²⁵ Who giveth food to all flesh;
For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever.

¹⁷ And yet he left not himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.
