²⁵ I also have become a reproach to them. When they see me, they shake their head.

⁴ I also could speak as ye do, if your soul were in my soul's stead. I could join words together against you, and shake my head at you.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man, a reproach of men, and despised by the people. ⁷ All those who see me laugh me to scorn. They shoot out the lip. They shake the head, saying,

¹¹ I have become a reproach because of all my adversaries, yea, to my neighbors exceedingly, and a fear to my acquaintances. Those who saw me outside fled from me. ¹² I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind. I am like a broken vessel. ¹³ For I have heard the slander of many. Fear was on every side, while they took counsel together against me. They devised to take away my life.

¹⁵ But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The wretches gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not. They tore me, and ceased not. ¹⁶ Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

⁹ For the zeal of thy house has eaten me up, and the reproaches of those who reproach thee have fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept in my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. ¹¹ When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them. ¹² Those who sit in the gate talk of me, and I am the song of the drunkards.

¹⁹ Thou know my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor. My adversaries are all before thee. ²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.

²² this is the word which LORD has spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised thee and laughed thee to scorn. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at thee.

³⁹ And those who passed by reviled him, shaking their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, Thou who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save thyself. If thou are the Son of God, come down from the cross.

²⁹ And those who passed by railed at him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ha! Thou who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

³ For Christ also did not please himself, but as it is written, The reproaches of those who reproached thee fell upon me.

² Looking to Jesus the pathfinder and perfecter of the faith, who, against the joy set before him, endured a cross, having despised the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹³ Let us therefore go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.
