⁴⁶ While he yet talked to the multitude, behold his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.

¹⁹ And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou? ²⁰ And he confessed and denied not, but confessed, I am not the Christ. ²¹ And they asked him, What then, Art thou Elijah? ²² And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. Then said they to him, Who art thou? That we may give an answer to them that sent us. ²³ What sayest thou of thyself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah. ²⁴ And they who were sent were of the Pharisees. ²⁵ And they asked him and said to him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?

¹ And a great sign was seen in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. ² And being with child she crieth, travailing in birth and pained to be delivered. ³ And another sign was seen in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. ⁴ And his tail draweth the third part of the stars of heaven, and casteth them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered, that when she had brought forth, he might devour the child. ⁵ And she brought forth a man child, who shall rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to his throne. ⁶ And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared by God, that they may feed her twelve hundred and sixty days. ⁷ And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels: ⁸ And he prevailed not, neither was his place found any more in heaven. ⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the antient serpent, who is called the devil and satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out unto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come the salvation, and the might, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ, for the accuser of our brethren is cast out, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. ¹² Therefore rejoice ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them: Wo to the earth and the sea; for the devil is come down to you, having great wrath; because he knoweth he hath but a little time. ¹³ And when the dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman that had brought forth the male child. ¹⁴ And there were given to the woman the two wings of the great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is fed for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. ¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth after the woman water as a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream. ¹⁶ But the earth helped the woman, and opened her mouth, and swallowed up the river which the dragon had cast out of his mouth. ¹⁷ And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went forth to make war with the rest of her seed who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus.

¹¹ And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² And Zacharias seeing him was troubled, and fear fell upon him. ¹³ But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. ¹⁴ And thou shalt have joy and exultation, and many shall rejoice at his birth. ¹⁵ For he shall be great before the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. ¹⁶ And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. ¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. ¹⁸ And Zacharias said to the angel, Whereby shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife advanced in years. ¹⁹ And the angel answering, said to him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and am sent to speak to thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. ²⁰ And behold, thou shalt be deaf, and not able to speak, till the day that these things are done, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

³⁵ And the angel answering said to her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born, shall be called the Son of God.

⁴ But if thou dost that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain; for he is the servant of God, an avenger for wrath against him that doth evil.

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God, to a city of Galilee,

⁹ Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, he disputed concerning the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

² Forget not to entertain strangers, for hereby some have entertained angels unawares.

²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God, to a city of Galilee, ²⁷ named Nazareth, To a virgin of the house of David, espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, and the virgin's name was Mary. ²⁸ And the angel coming in to her, said, Hail, thou highly favoured; the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. ²⁹ But she seeing him, was troubled at his saying, and reasoned, what manner of salutation this should be.

²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God, to a city of Galilee, ²⁷ named Nazareth, To a virgin of the house of David, espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, and the virgin's name was Mary. ²⁸ And the angel coming in to her, said, Hail, thou highly favoured; the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. ²⁹ But she seeing him, was troubled at his saying, and reasoned, what manner of salutation this should be. ³⁰ And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. ³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. ³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his father David. ³³ And he shall reign over the house of Jacob; for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end. ³⁴ Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? ³⁵ And the angel answering said to her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born, shall be called the Son of God. ³⁶ And behold thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. ³⁷ For with God, nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it unto me according to thy word. ³⁸ And the angel departed from her.
