⁹ Similarly the women also, dressing themselves in appropriate clothing, with modesty and good sense; not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, ¹⁰ but with good works, which is appropriate to women who profess godliness.

Are you not superior to them? ²⁷ And which of you can add one cubit to his stature by worrying? ²⁸ And why do you worry about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither labor nor spin, ²⁹ and yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which exists today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, you little-faiths? ³¹ Therefore do not worry saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For the pagans seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need each of these things. ³³ Rather, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ³⁴ Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own affairs. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
