¹⁸ Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him and asked him a question. ¹⁹ "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no child, he should marry the widow and have children for his brother. ²⁰ Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children. ²¹ Then the second one married the widow, but he also died and left no children. ¹ The Pharisees and Sadducees came up and to test him asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

¹² Then they understood that He was not telling them to beware of the yeast used in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
