⁴ The worde of the Lord spake thus vnto me: ⁵ Before I fashyoned the in thy mothers wombe, I did know the. And or euer thou wast borne, I sanctifyed the, and ordeyned the, to be a Prophete vnto the people. ⁶ Then sayde I: Oh Lorde God, I am vnmete, for I am yet but younge. ⁷ And the Lorde answered me thus: Saye not so, I am to younge. For thou shalt go to al that I shall sende the vnto, and whatsoeuer I commaund the, that shalt thou speake. ⁸ Be not afrayed of their faces, for I wilbe with the, to delyuer the, sayeth the Lorde. ⁹ And with that, the Lorde stretched oute his hande, and touched my mouthe, and sayde moreouer vnto me. Beholde I put my wordes in thy mouth, ¹⁰ & this daye do I set the ouer the people & kingedomes, that thou mayest rote oute, breake of, destroye, & make waste: and that thou mayest buylde vp and plante.

¹ And Ionas prayed vnto the Lord his God, out of the fysshes bely, ² & sayde: In my trouble I called vnto the Lord, & he herde me: out of the bely of hell I cryed, and thou herdest my voyce. ³ Thou haddest cast me downe depe in the myddest of the sea, and the floude compassed me aboute: yee all thy waues and roules of water went ouer me, ⁴ I thought that I had bene cast awaye out of thy syght: but I wyll yet agayne loke towarde thy holy temple. ⁵ The waters compased me, euen to the very soule, the depe laye aboute me, and the wedes were wrapte aboute myne head. ⁶ I went downe to the botome af the hylles, and was barred in wyth earth for euer. But thou, O Lorde my God, haste brought vp my lyfe agayne out of corrupcyon. ⁷ When my soule faynted within me, I thought vpon the Lord: & my prayer came in vnto the, euen in to thy holy temple. ⁸ They that holde of vayue vanyties, will forsake hys mercy. ⁹ But I wyll do the sacryfyce wyth the voyce of thankesgeuynge, and wil paye that I haue vowed: for why? saluacion commeth of the Lorde. ¹⁰ And the Lorde spake vnto the fysh, and it cast out Ionas agayne vpon the drye lande.

⁴² Iesus sayde vnto them: dyd ye neuer reade in the scriptures. The stone which the buylders refused, the same is set in the principall parte of the corner: thys was the Lordes doynge, and it is meruelous in oure eyes.

¹³ Therfore speake I to them in similitudes: for though they se, they se not: and hearyng they heare not: neyther vnderstand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the Prophesye of Esayas, whych prophesie sayth: with the eares ye shal heare, and shal not vnderstande, and with the eyes ye shal se, and shall not perceyue. ¹⁵ For this people hertes are waxed grosse, and their eares were dull of hearynge, and their eyes haue they closed, lest they should se with their eyes, and heare with their eares, and shoulde vnderstand with their hertes, & should tourne that I myght heale them.

⁷ And he sayed vnto them: It is not for you to know the tymes or the seasons which the father hath put in hys owne power ⁸ but ye shall receiue power of the holy ghost, whiche shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Hierusalem, and in al Iewrye, and in Samary and euen vnto the worldes ende. ⁹ And when he had spoken these thynges whyle they beheld, he was taken vp, and a cloud receiued him vp out of their sighte, ¹⁰ And while they loked stedfastlye vp to heauen as he went, beholde two men stode by them in whyt apparell, ¹¹ whyche also sayde: ye men of Galile, why stande ye gasynge vp into heauen? This same Iesus which is taken from you into heauen, shal so come, euen as ye haue sene hym go into heauen.

⁷ He wyll not be afrayed for anye euyll tydynges, his herte standeth fast, and beleueth in the Lord.

⁸ Thys people draweth nye vnto me with their mouthes, & honoureth me with their lippes, howe be it their hertes are farre from me:

⁷ Because that the fleshlye minde is enemy agaynste God: for it is not obediente to the lawe of God, neyther can be.

⁹ Yea euen myne owne famylyer frende, whom I trusted, whiche dyd eate my breade hath lyfte vp his hele agaynste me.

²⁰ Teachyng then to obserue all thynges whatsoeuer I commaunded you, And lo I am with you alwaye, euen vntyll the ende of the worlde.

³³ These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me you myght haue peace. For in the worlde shall you haue tribulacyon: but be of good cheare. I haue ouercome the worlde.

¹ But now, the Lorde that made the O Iacob, & he that fashyoned the O Israel, sayeth thus: Feare not, for I wyll defende the. I haue called the by name thou art myne owne. ² When thou wentest in the water, I was by the, that the stronge floudes shuld not pluck the awaye. When thou walkest in the fyre, it shall not burne the, and the flame shall not kindle vpon the. ³ For I am the Lorde thy God, the holy one of Israel, thy Sauyour. I gaue Egypte for thy delyueraunce, the Moryans, and the Sabees for the: ⁴ because thou wast deare in my sight, and because I set by the, and loued the. I pylled all men for the, & delyuered vp al people for thy sake,
