¹ Praise Jehovah! ¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth; ² and the earth being without form and empty, and darkness on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moving gently on the face of the waters, ³ then God said, Let light be! And there was light. ⁴ And God saw the light, that it was good, and God separated between the light and darkness. ⁵ And God called the light, Day. And He called the darkness, Night. And there was evening, and there was morning the first day. ⁶ And God said, Let an expanse be in the midst of the waters, and let it divide between the waters and the waters. ⁷ And God made the expanse, and He separated between the waters which were under the expanse and the waters which were above the expanse. And it was so. ⁸ And God called the expanse, Heavens. And there was evening, and there was morning the second day. ⁹ And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be collected to one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. ¹⁰ And God called the dry land, Earth. And He called the collection of the waters, Seas. And God saw that it was good. ¹¹ And God said, Let the earth sprout tender sprouts, the plant seeding seed, the fruit tree producing fruit according to its kind, whichever seed is in it on the earth. And it was so. ¹² And the earth bore tender sprouts, the plant seeding seed according to its kind, and the fruit tree producing fruit according to its kind, whichever seed is in it. And God saw that it was good. ¹³ And there was evening, and there was morning the third day. ¹⁴ And God said, Let luminaries be in the expanse of the heavens, to divide between the day and the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years. ¹⁵ And let them be for luminaries in the expanse of the heavens, to give light on the earth. And it was so. ¹⁶ And God made the two great luminaries: the great luminary to rule the day, and the small luminary and the stars to rule the night. ¹⁷ And God set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light on the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night; and to divide between the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good. ¹⁹ And there was evening, and there was morning the fourth day. ²⁰ And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarmers having a soul of life; and let the birds fly over the earth, on the face of the expanse of the heavens. ²¹ And God created the great sea animals, and all that creeps, having a living soul, which swarmed the waters, according to its kind; and every bird with wing according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas; and let the birds multiply in the earth. ²³ And there was evening, and there was morning the fifth day. ²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the soul of life according to its kind: cattle, and creepers, and its beasts of the earth, according to its kind. And it was so. ²⁵ And God made the beasts of the earth according to its kind, and cattle according to its kind, and all creepers of the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²⁶ And God said, let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creepers creeping on the earth. ²⁷ And God created the man in His own image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female. ²⁸ And God blessed them; and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over birds of the heavens, and over all beasts creeping on the earth. ²⁹ And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant seeding seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree seeding seed; it shall be food for you. ³⁰ And to every beast of the earth, and to all birds of the heavens, and to every creeper on the earth which has in it a living soul, every green plant is for food. And it was so. ³¹ And God saw everything that He had made and behold, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning the sixth day.

⁸ Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy; ⁹ six days you shall labor and do all your work; ¹⁰ and the seventh day is a sabbath to Jehovah your God; you shall not do any work, you, and your son, and your daughter, your male slave and your slave-girl, and your livestock, and your stranger who is in your gates. ¹¹ For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all which is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; on account of this Jehovah blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.

⁷ And on the first of the week, the disciples having been assembled to break bread, being about to depart on the morrow, Paul reasoned to them. And he continued his speech until midnight.

¹ But on the first of the sabbaths, while still very early, they came on the tomb, carrying spices which they prepared; and some were with them. ² And they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb. ³ And going in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ⁴ And it happened, as they were perplexed about this, even behold, two men in shining clothing stood by them. ⁵ And they becoming terrified, and bowing their faces to the earth, they said to them, Why do you seek the living with the dead? ⁶ He is not here, but was raised. Remember how He spoke to you, yet being in Galilee, ⁷ saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and the third day to rise again. ⁸ And they remembered His words. ⁹ And returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven, and to all the rest. ¹⁰ And they were Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary mother of James, and the rest with them, who told these things to the apostles. ¹¹ And their words seemed like foolishness to them, and they did not believe them. ¹² But rising up, Peter ran to the tomb, and stooping down he saw the linen lying alone. And he went away wondering to himself at what had happened. ¹³ And, behold, two of them were going on the same day to a village being sixty stadia distant from Jerusalem, which was named Emmaus. ¹⁴ And they talked to each other about all these things taking place. ¹⁵ And it happened, as they talked and reasoned, coming near, Jesus Himself traveled with them. ¹⁶ But their eyes were held so as not to recognize Him. ¹⁷ And He said to them, What words are these which you exchange with each other while walking, and are sad of face? ¹⁸ And answering, one of them whose name was Cleopas, said to Him, Are you only one who resides in Jerusalem and do not know the things happening in it in these days? ¹⁹ And He said to them, What things? And they said to Him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a man, a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; ²⁰ and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the judgment of death, and crucified Him . ²¹ But we were hoping that He is the One going to redeem Israel. But then with all these things, this third day comes today since these things happened. ²² And also some of our women astounded us, having been early at the tomb, ²³ and not finding His body, they came saying to have seen a vision of angels also, who say Him to be alive. ²⁴ And some of those with us went to the tomb, and found it so, even as the women also said; but they did not see Him. ²⁵ And He said to them, O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe on all things which the prophets spoke! ²⁶ Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into His glory? ²⁷ And beginning from Moses, and from all the prophets, He explained to them the things about Himself in all the Scriptures. ²⁸ And they drew near to the village where they were going, and He seemed to be going further. ²⁹ And they constrained Him, saying, Stay with us, for it is toward evening, and the day has declined. And He went in to stay with them. ³⁰ And it happened as He reclined with them, taking the loaf, He blessed, and breaking He gave to them. ³¹ And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him. And He became invisible from them. ³² And they said to one another, Was not our heart burning in us as He spoke to us in the highway, and as He opened up to us the Scriptures? ³³ And rising up in the same hour, they went back to Jerusalem, and they found the Eleven, and those with them, having been gathered, ³⁴ saying, The Lord really was raised and appeared to Simon. ³⁵ And they related the things in the highway, and how He was known to them in the breaking of the loaf. ³⁶ And as they were telling these things, Jesus Himself stood in their midst, and said to them, Peace to you! ³⁷ But being terrified and filled with fear, they thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And He said to them, Why are you troubled? And why do reasonings come up in your hearts. ³⁹ See My hands and My feet, that I am He? Feel Me and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see Me having. ⁴⁰ And saying this, He showed them His hands and feet. ⁴¹ But yet they not believing from the joy, and marveling, He said to them, Have you any food here? ⁴² And they handed a broiled part of a fish to Him, and from a honeycomb. ⁴³ And taking these before them, He ate. ⁴⁴ And He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you yet being with you, that must be fulfilled all the things having been written in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, concerning Me. ⁴⁵ Then He opened up their mind to understand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, So it is written, and so the Christ must suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day. No OT passage ⁴⁷ And repentance and remission of sins must be preached on His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And you are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And, behold, I send forth the promise of My Father on you. But you sit in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high. ⁵⁰ He led them out as far as to Bethany. And lifting up His hands, He blessed them. ⁵¹ And it happened as He blessed them, He withdrew from them and was carried into Heaven. ⁵² And worshiping Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, ⁵³ and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

¹ But on the first of the week, Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, darkness yet being on it . And she saw the stone had been removed from the tomb. ² Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they laid Him. ³ Then Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. ⁴ And the two ran together, and the other disciple ran in front more quickly than Peter and came first to the tomb. ⁵ And stooping down, he saw the linens lying; however, he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came following him, and went into the tomb and saw the linens lying. ⁷ And the grave cloth which was on His head was not lying with the linens, but was wrapped up in one place by itself. ⁸ Therefore, then the other disciple also entered, he having come first to the tomb, even he saw and believed. ⁹ For they did not yet know the Scripture, that it was necessary for Him to rise from the dead. ¹⁰ Then the disciples went away again to themselves. ¹¹ But Mary stood outside at the tomb, weeping. Then as she wept, she stooped down into the tomb. ¹² And she saw two angels in white, sitting one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. ¹³ And they said to her, Woman, why do you weep? She said to them, Because they took away my Lord, and I do not know where they put Him. ¹⁴ And saying these things, she turned backward and saw Jesus standing, and did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus said to her, Woman, why do you weep? Whom do you seek? Thinking that it was the gardener, she said to Him, Sir, if you carried Him away, tell me where you put Him, and I will take Him away. ¹⁶ Jesus said to her, Mary! Turning around, she said to Him, Rabboni! (that is to say, Teacher). ¹⁷ Jesus said to her, Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brothers and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and My God, and your God. ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came bringing word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He told her these things. ¹⁹ Then it being evening on that day, the first of the sabbaths, and the doors having been locked where the disciples were assembled, because of fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, Peace to you. ²⁰ And saying this, He showed them His hands and side. Then seeing the Lord, the disciples rejoiced. ²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace to you. As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. ²² And saying this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. ²³ Of whomever you forgive the sins, they are forgiven to them. Or whomever you may retain, they are retained. ²⁴ But Thomas, one of the Twelve, the one called Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. ²⁵ Then the other disciples said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see the mark of the nails in His hands, and thrust my finger into the mark of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, in no way will I believe. ²⁶ And after eight days, His disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. The door having been locked, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said, Peace to you. ²⁷ Then He said to Thomas, Bring your finger here and see My hands, and bring your hand and thrust into My side, and be not unbelieving, but believing. ²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to Him, My Lord and my God! ²⁹ Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, Thomas, you have believed. Blessed are the ones not seeing and believing. ³⁰ Then truly Jesus did many other miracles in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. ³¹ But these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

¹⁶ And on the first day shall be a holy gathering, and in the seventh day a holy gathering shall be to you. Not any work may be done on them. Only what must be eaten by your soul, that alone may be done by you.

² On the first of a week, let each of you put by himself, storing up whatever he is prospered, that there not be collections then when I come.
