It is the one surrounding all the land of Cush. ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Tigris; it is the one going east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. ¹⁵ And Jehovah God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden, to work it and to keep it. ¹⁶ And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree in the garden; ¹⁷ but of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil you may not eat, for in the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die. ¹⁸ And Jehovah God said, It is not good, the man being alone. I will make a helper suited to him. ¹⁹ And Jehovah God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the heavens out of the ground. And He brought them to the man, to see what he would call it. And all which the man might call it, each living soul, that was its name. ²⁰ And the man called names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the heavens, and to every animal of the field. But no helper suited to him was found for a man. ²¹ And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh underneath. ²² And Jehovah God formed the rib which He had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man. ²³ And the man said, This now at last is bone from my bones, and flesh from my flesh. For this shall be called Woman, because this has been taken out of man. ²⁴ Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh. ²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and they were not ashamed.

⁷ Likewise, husbands, dwelling together according to knowledge, as with a weaker vessel, the female, bestowing honor, as truly being co-heirs of the grace of life, not cutting off your prayers.

² Then it behooves the overseer to be blameless, husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, well-ordered, hospitable, apt at teaching;

²⁷ And God created the man in His own image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female.

¹⁰ Who can find an able woman? For her value is far above jewels. ¹¹ The heart of her husband trusts in her, so that he has no lack of gain. ¹² She deals good with him, and not evil, all the days of her life. ¹³ She seeks wool and flax, and she works with her palms with delight. ¹⁴ She is like the merchant ships, she brings in her food from afar. ¹⁵ She also rises while it is still night, and gives game to her household, and an order to her maidens. ¹⁶ She has examined a field, and takes it, she plants a vineyard from the fruit of her hands. ¹⁷ She has girded her loins with strength, and has made her arms strong. ¹⁸ She tastes whether her gain is good; her lamp does not go out by night. ¹⁹ She has sent forth her hands on the distaff, and her palms have held the spindle. ²⁰ She spreads out her palms to the poor, yea, she reaches out her hands to the needy. ²¹ She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet. ²² She makes herself ornamental coverings, her clothing is fine linen and purple. ²³ Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits with the elders of the land. ²⁴ She makes fine linen garments, and sells, and she delivers belts to the merchant. ²⁵ Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she shall rejoice at the day to come. ²⁶ She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue. ²⁷ She watches the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. ²⁸ Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, for he praises her: ²⁹ Many are the daughters who work ably, but you rise above them all! ³⁰ Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Jehovah, she shall be praised. ³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.

¹⁸ And Jehovah God said, It is not good, the man being alone. I will make a helper suited to him.
