⁵ And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Verily, I say to you, They have their reward. ⁶ But do you, when you pray, go into your closet, and when you have closed the door, pray to your Father who is in secret: and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. ⁷ But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they will be heard for their many words. ⁸ Be not, there fore, like them; for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him. ⁹ In this manner, therefore, pray you: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. ¹⁰ Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is done in heaven. ¹¹ Give us this day the bread for our support. ¹² And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. ¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One.

² And he said to them: "When you pray, say, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. ³ Give us, day by day, the bread sufficient for our support; ⁴ and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

³ Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly things in Christ,

² You desire, and you have not; you kill, and are earnestly desirous of having, and yet you can not obtain; you fight and war, and yet you have not, because you ask not.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One.

¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be restored to health: the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
