¹⁷ Behold thou art called a Jew, and restest on the law, and boastest in God,

⁹ "We have Abraham for our father:" for I tell you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.

¹¹ but I tell you, that many shall come from the east and from the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven; ¹² and the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness; where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁸ And He said unto him, Thou hast answered right; do this and thou shalt live.

⁴⁵ Think not that I shall accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

¹⁹ Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you observeth the law? wherefore else do ye seek to kill me?

³³ They answered Him, We are the seed of Abraham, and never were slaves to any one, how then dost thou say, Ye shall be made free?

⁴¹ But ye do the works of your father. Then said they unto Him, We are not born of fornication, we have one Father, even God.

²⁸ Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple, but we are the disciples of Moses: we know that God spake to Moses: ²⁹ but as for this man, we know not whence He is.

²³ Thou, that boastest in the law, dost thou by transgression of the law dishonour God?

²⁸ nor is that circumcision, which is only in appearance, in the flesh; ²⁹ but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit, not in the letter: whose praise is not from men, but from God.

⁴ who are Israelites, whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the form of divine worship, and the promises: ⁵ whose are the fathers, and of whom, as to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all God blessed for ever. Amen. ⁶ Not that the word of God hath failed. For they are not all Israel, who are descended from Israel. ⁷ Nor because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children of promise: but "in Isaac shall thy seed be called."

³² because they sought it not by faith, but by the works of the law, for they stumbled at that stumbling-stone;

²² Are they Hebrews? so am I: are they Israelites? so am I: are they the seed of Abraham?

¹⁵ We, who are Jews by birth, and not sinners of the gentiles,

¹¹ Wherefore remember that ye were formerly Gentiles in the flesh, called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision made by hands in the flesh;

³ For we are of the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit, rejoicing in Christ Jesus, and having no confidence in the flesh. ⁴ Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other thinks he hath whereof to trust in the flesh, I more: ⁵ having been circumcised on the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of Hebrews, with respect to the law a pharisee, ⁶ as to zeal persecuting the church, as to the righteousness of the law blameless: but those things, ⁷ which were once gain to me, I counted loss for Christ.

⁹ I know thy works and affliction and poverty (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of those that say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

¹ And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, These things saith He that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead:

⁹ Behold, I will give up those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but speak falsely; behold, I will make them come and bow before thy feet, and they shall know that I have loved thee.
