¹² Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed the gospel, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence; be still working out your own salvation though with fear and trembling:

¹² and from the days of John the baptist to this time, the kingdom of heaven is as it were forced into, and the most pressing seize upon it with eagerness.

²⁹ Take but my yoke upon you, and learn of me, (for I am meek and lowly in heart,) and ye shall find refreshment to your souls:

²³ And one said to Him, Lord, are there but few that shall be saved? ²⁴ But He said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate; for I tell you, many will desire to enter in, and shall not be able.

²⁷ Labour not so much for the meat that perisheth, but rather for that food which endureth unto life eternal, which the Son of man will give you: for Him hath God the Father sealed. ²⁸ Therefore said they unto Him, What should we do, that we may work the works approved of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him, whom He hath sent.

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee, what thou must do.

²⁹ Then he called for lights, and sprang in, and being in a tremor fell down before Paul and Silas:

⁷ to them, who by perseverance in well-doing seek for glory, and honor, and immortality, eternal life:

¹¹ And this let us observe, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed. ¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us behave decently as being in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lasciviousness, not in strife and envying. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.

³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

¹⁴ I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I admonish you:

²⁰ And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; that is, to those, who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law: ²¹ and to those without the law as without the law, (not being without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain those who are without the law. ²² To the weak I became as the weak, that I might gain the weak: I became all things to all men, that I might by every means save some. ²³ And this I do for the sake of the gospel, that I may be a fellow partaker of it. ²⁴ Know ye not, that those, who run in a race, do all indeed run, but one only receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain. ²⁵ And every one that enters the lists is temperate in all things: they indeed do it that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible one. ²⁶ I therefore so run, not as unobserved: I so fight, not as one that beateth the air: ²⁷ but I mortify my body and bring it into subjection, least after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

⁵⁸ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

¹⁵ And his bowels are exceedingly moved towards you, when he calls to mind the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

⁷ Be not deceived, God is not to be mocked: for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. ⁸ He then, who soweth to his flesh, shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he, that soweth to the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ⁹ And let us not be weary in doing good: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

⁵ Servants, obey them that are your masters according to the flesh, with reverential fear, in the simplicity of your heart, as unto Christ:

⁵ in every prayer of mine) for your attachment to the gospel, from the first day even till now;

²⁷ Only behave worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or be absent, I may hear of you, that ye stand firm in one Spirit, striving together as with one soul for the saith of the gospel;

²⁹ For to you it is granted as a favor from Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for his sake:

¹⁹ But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be refreshed, by knowing the state of your affairs.

¹³ Brethren, I count not myself to have attained it: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to those before, ¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

¹ Wherefore, my brethren, beloved and much desired, my joy and crown, so stand ye fast in the Lord, my beloved.

¹⁵ And ye Philippians know, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I was departing from Macedonia, no church communicated to me on the score of giving and receiving, but you only.

³ Incessantly remembering your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father:

¹⁰ Therefore I submit to every thing for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is by Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

¹ Let us therefore fear least a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of us should seem to fall short of it:

¹¹ Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, least any one fall after the same example of unbelief.

⁹ He became the author of eternal salvation to all that obey Him:

¹⁰ For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shewn to his name, by having ministred to the saints, and yet ministring. ¹¹ And we desire that every one of you would shew the same diligence to acquire the full assurance of hope even unto the end:

¹ Having therefore so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every incumbrance, and the sin that easily besets us, and run with patience the race that is set before us,

²⁸ Wherefore since we receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and holy fear: ²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I exhort you as strangers and sojourners here, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul:

⁵ And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; ⁶ and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; ⁷ and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity. ⁸ For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he, that hath not these, is blind, or short-sighted, having forgot his baptismal purification from his former sins. ¹⁰ Wherefore, my brethren, be the more diligent thus to make your calling and election sure; for if ye do these things ye shall never fall.

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: to Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
