²⁹ For to you it is granted as a favor from Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for his sake:

¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall revile and persecute you, and utter all manner of reproach against you falsly, for my sake: ¹² rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great will be your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets, that were before you.

¹⁷ And Jesus replied and said unto him, Blessed art thou Simon son of Jonas, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

¹² But as many as received Him, to them granted He the privilege to become the children of God, even to them that believe on his name; ¹³ who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me, unless the Father, who hath sent me, draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, "And they shall all be taught of God." Every one therefore that hath heard and learned from the Father, cometh unto me.

⁴¹ And they departed from the presence of the council rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer disgrace for his name.

³⁹ and by Him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and telling them that through many afflictions we must enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁷ And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they related what God had done by them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

³ And not only so, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation worketh patience,

⁸ For by grace ye are saved, through faith: and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not by works, that no one may boast:

¹² being buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are raised together with Him, through faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.

² Account it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various trials:

¹⁷ and every perfect gift, but no evil one, is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, nor shadow of turning: ¹⁸ who hath of his own will begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.

¹³ but rejoice in that ye are partakers in the sufferings of Christ; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may also rejoice with exceeding joy.
