²¹ for out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts,

⁴ said to them, Why think ye evil in your hearts?

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed wicked disputings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false-witnessings, slanders:

²⁵ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance: ²⁶ thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean. ²⁷ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who are like whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful without, but within are full of the bones of the dead, and all manner of filthiness; ²⁸ so do ye likewise outwardly appear to men to be righteous, but within are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

¹⁵ And He said unto them, Ye justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

⁴ While it remained, did it not remain thy own? and when sold, was it not in thy own power? what is the meaning that thou hast taken this into thine heart? Thou hast not lyed to men, but to God.

²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray to God, if so be the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee:

⁵ For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions while we were under the law operated in our bodies so as to bring forth fruit unto death.

⁸ But sin taking occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of concupiscence: for without the law sin was dead.

⁷ because the carnal mind is an enemy to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be: ⁸ and they who are carnal, cannot please God.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, such as, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, ²⁰ lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, enmities, strifes, emulations, animosities, contentions, divisions, ²¹ heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and the like: of which I forewarn you, as I have also told you before, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

³ For we also were formerly foolish, disobedient, going astray, enslaved to various disorderly appetites and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

¹⁴ But every man is tempted, when drawn aside and insnared by his own vehement desire. ¹⁵ Then desire having conceived bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.

⁴ do ye not make a partial difference within yourselves, and become judges that reason wickedly?

¹ Whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence? even of your carnal appetites making war in your bodies? ² Ye desire, and ye have not: ye are envious, and jealous, and cannot obtain: ye fight and contend; but ye have not, because ye ask not. ³ Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask wickedly; that ye may spend it in your pleasures.

² that he should no longer live the rest of his time in the flesh according to the lusts of men, but after the will of God. ³ For the time past of our life is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, inordinate desires, excess of wine, revellings, drunkenness, and abominable idolatries:
