¹² And Pilate answered, and said to them again, What then would you have me do with Him, whom ye call king of the Jews?

² saying, Where is the king of the Jews that is born here? for we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship Him. ³ And when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him: ⁴ and having summoned together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he enquired of them where the Messiah was to be born: and they told him, at Bethlehem in Judea;

⁵ behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, even a colt the fole of an ass.

²² What shall I do then, saith Pilate, with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all cried out, Let Him be crucified. ²³ And the governor said, Why, what evil hath He done? but they cried out the more, saying, Let Him be crucified.

⁹ And they that went before, and they that followed, cried out, saying, Hosanna, blessed be He that cometh in the name of the Lord: ¹⁰ blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that is coming in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest. ¹¹ And Jesus went into Jerusalem, and into the temple; and when He had looked round upon every thing, it being now late in the day, He went out to Bethany with the twelve.

¹ And as soon as ever it was light the chief priests holding a consultation with the elders and scribes, they and the whole sanhedrim, bound Jesus, and carried Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate. ² And Pilate asked Him, Art thou the king of the Jews? and He answered It is as thou sayst.

² And they began to accuse Him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbiding to give tribute to Cesar; saying, that He himself is Christ the king.

²⁰ Pilate therefore spake to them again, being desirous to release Jesus. ²¹ But they bawled out, saying, Crucify Him, crucify Him. ²² And he said to them a third time, what evil hath He done? I have found nothing in Him deserving death: I will therefore chastise Him, and let Him go. ²³ But they insisted upon it with loud clamours, demanding Him to be crucified: and their voices and those of the chief priests prevailed. ²⁴ So Pilate gave sentence that what they demanded should be done.

¹⁴ (And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour.) And he saith to the Jews, Behold your king. But they cried out, ¹⁵ Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cesar. ¹⁶ Then delivered he Him therefore unto them to be crucified.
