³² And they came to a place called Gethsemane, and He saith to his disciples, Sit here whilst I go and pray.

³⁶ Then went Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit here, while I go there and pray: ³⁷ and having taken with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and much distressed; ³⁸ and saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death, stay here and watch with me. ³⁹ And going a little farther, He prostrated himself, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt. ⁴⁰ And coming to the disciples, he findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, what! could ye not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ⁴² And going away again, the second time He prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass from me, unless I drink it, thy will be done. ⁴³ And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ And He left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, to the same effect. ⁴⁵ Then He cometh to his disciples and saith, Are ye sleeping still and taking your rest? behold, the hour is come, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise, let us go, see the traitor is at hand.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with his disciples over the brook Kedron; where there was a garden, into which He entred, and his disciples. Now Judas who was gone to betray Him, ² knew the place: for Jesus often met there together with his disciples: Judas therefore having got a band of soldiers, ³ and officers from the chief priests and pharisees, cometh thither with candles, and lamps, and arms. ⁴ Upon which Jesus, who knew all that was coming upon Him, went forth and said unto them, Whom do ye seek? They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene. ⁵ Jesus saith unto them, I am He. And Judas that betrayed Him, was standing with them. ⁶ Now as soon as He said unto them, I am He, they went backwards and fell to the ground. ⁷ Then He asked them again, Whom do ye seek? ⁸ And they said, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am He: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: ⁹ That the word might be fulfilled which He had spoken, "Of those, whom Thou hast given me, I have lost none." ¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. ¹¹ But Jesus said to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
