¹⁷ And they took Jesus, and led Him away. And He went out, bearing his cross, into a place called the place of a scull, in Hebrew Golgotha:

³⁸ and he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

²⁴ Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any one is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me:

³¹ And after they had thus abused Him, they took off the scarlet robe from Him, and put on Him his own clothes, and led Him away to be crucified. ³² And as they were going along they met with a man of Cyrene, whose name was Simon; and forced him to carry the cross. ³³ And when they were come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, ³⁴ the place of a skull, they gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: but when He had tasted it, He would not drink.

³⁷ THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

³⁴ And calling the people and his disciples to Him, He said unto them, Whosoever is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me:

²¹ Then Jesus looked upon him with affection, and said to him, One thing thou wantest; go, sell all that thou hast, and give it to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow me.

²¹ And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was passing by, coming out of the country, to carry his cross: ²² and they brought Him to a place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, the place of a scull. ²³ And they offered Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He would not take it.

²⁶ and the title of his charge was written over Him, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

³² the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe in Him. And even they that were crucified with Him, reviled Him.

²³ And He said unto them all, if any one is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me:

²⁷ And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and follow me, cannot be my disciple.

²⁶ And when they led Him away, they laid hold on one Simon a Cyrenean coming out of the country, and put the cross on him to bear it behind Jesus.

³³ And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him and the malefactors: one on his right hand and the other on his left.

³⁸ And there was a superscription written over Him in Greek, and Latin and Hebrew letters, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

⁵⁸ and cast him out of the city and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man, whose name was Saul.
