⁴³ And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who addressing themselves to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

¹⁵ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites: for ye compass sea and land to make a proselyte, and when he is gained, ye make him more the child of hell than yourselves.

³¹ Therefore said Jesus to the Jews that believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, ye are indeed my disciples. ³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

⁵ I am the vine, ye are the branches; he that abideth in me, and I in him, beareth much fruit: but without me ye can do nothing. ⁶ If any one abide not in me, he is cast out as a useless branch and withereth: and they gather them up, and throw them into the fire, and they are burnt. ⁷ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it shall be granted you. ⁸ Herein is my father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and so shall ye be my disciples. ⁹ As the Father hath loved me, and I have loved you, continue in my love: ¹⁰ and if ye keep my commandments ye will continue in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and continue in his love.

⁵ And the advice pleased the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith, and of the holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch.

²³ Who, when he was come, and saw the grace of God, rejoiced, and exhorted them all with steadiness of heart to adhere to the Lord.

⁵⁰ but the Jews stirred up devout and honorable women, and the heads of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their territories.

³ They therefore stayed a considerable time speaking freely of the Lord, who bare witness to the word of his grace, and gave signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and telling them that through many afflictions we must enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁴ And a certain woman named Lydia, a purple-seller of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things that were spoken by Paul.

⁴ And some of them believed and joined themselves to Paul and Silas, and a great number of the devout Greeks, and of the women of distinction not a few.

¹⁷ He therefore disputed in the synagogue with the Jews and other devout persons on the sabbath-day, and with whomsoever he met in public every day.

³⁴ Some however adhered to him, and believed: among whom was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

⁸ and spake boldly, disputing with them for the space of three months, and persuading them of the things concerning the kingdom of God. ⁹ But as some were hardened and refractory, speaking evil of the way of life before the multitude, he departed from them, and took away the disciples with him, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

²³ And having appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he discoursed and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them of the things concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses, and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

²⁴ being justified freely by his grace, because of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

² through whom also we have admission by faith into this grace in which we stand, and boast in hope of the glory of God.

²¹ so grace might reign through righteousness, unto eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ And if by grace, it is no more of works: for then grace is no longer grace. But if of works, it is no more grace: for then work is no longer work.

¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men: but if not, we are manifest unto God, and I hope we are also manifested to your consciences:

¹ And we co-operating with Him do also exhort you that ye receive not the grace of God in vain:

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage.

⁴ Christ is become nothing to you, whosoever of you are seeking to be justified by the law: ye are fallen from the grace of the gospel.

⁸ For by grace ye are saved, through faith: and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not by works, that no one may boast:

¹⁶ But in what we have attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

¹ Wherefore, my brethren, beloved and much desired, my joy and crown, so stand ye fast in the Lord, my beloved.

²³ if so be ye continue grounded and settled in the faith, and be not moved from the gospel, which ye have heard, and which hath been preached throughout the whole creation, of which I Paul am a minister.

²⁸ whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

³ that no one might be shaken by these afflictions: for ye yourselves know that we are appointed hereunto. ⁴ For when we were with you, we told you before that we should be afflicted, as it came to pass, and ye know. ⁵ For this cause being able to wait no longer, I sent to know the state of your faith, least the tempter should have tempted you, and our labor have been in vain.

¹¹ For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men;

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you would shew the same diligence to acquire the full assurance of hope even unto the end: ¹² that ye would not be sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience are inheriting the promises.

¹⁵ looking to it, least there be any one falling short of the grace of God, least any root of bitterness springing up should be troublesome, and by it many be defiled:

⁹ be not then carried about by various and strange doctrines; for it is good that the heart be established by grace, and not in meats, in which those that have been most exact, have not profited by them.

¹² Thus I have written briefly by Silvanus, a faithful brother to you (as I judge) exhorting and testifying, that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing ye expect these things, give diligence to be found of Him in peace, spotless and blameless;

¹⁷ Do ye therefore, beloved, as ye know these things before, take heed least being seduced together with them by the error of the wicked, ye should fall from your own stedfastness. ¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: to Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

²⁸ And now, little children, abide, I say, in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and may not be ashamed before Him at his coming.

⁹ Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God: but he, that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, hath both the Father and the Son.
