¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that by me the gospel might be fully spread, and that all the nations might hear: and so I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹¹ And the following night, the Lord standing by him said, Paul, be of good courage; for as thou hast testified concerning me at Jerusalem, so must thou also bear testimony at Rome.

¹⁷ delivering thee from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send thee, ¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God; that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.

²³ for there stood by me this night an angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying, ²⁴ Fear not, Paul, thou must be brought before Cesar, and behold God hath given thee all that are sailing with thee.

²⁵ Now to Him that is able to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, (conformable to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret in former times, ²⁶ but is now manifested, and made known to all nations by the writings of the prophets, according to the appointment of the eternal God,

⁹ And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is manifested in thy weakness." With the greatest pleasure therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

⁸ On me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace bestowed, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹² But I would have you know, my brethren, that the things, which have befallen me, have proved rather to the advancement of the gospel: ¹³ so that my bonds are manifest in all the palace, and all other places, to be for the sake of Christ; ¹⁴ and many of the brethren in the Lord, encouraged by my bonds, are much more bold to publish the word without fear.

¹² And I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord, who gave me ability for the work, that He accounted me faithful, having put me into the ministry,

¹¹ sufferings, which befel me at Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and how the Lord delivered me out of them all.

³³ who by faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

⁹ iniquitous deeds) then the Lord knoweth how to deliver the pious from temptation, and to reserve the wicked to the day of judgement to be punished:
