¹⁸ (The Lord grant that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day!) And how much he ministered to me at Ephesus too, thou knowest full well.

³⁴ Then will the king say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ for I was famishing, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ I was naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye took care of me; I was in prison, and ye visited me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? ³⁸ and when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? ³⁹ or naked, and clothed thee? and when did we see thee sick, or in prison, and visited thee? ⁴⁰ And the king replying will say unto them, Verily I declare unto you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the lest of these my brethren, ye did it to me.

⁷² to display his mercy towards our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant,

⁷⁸ in the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the day-spring hath visited us from on high,

³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who assisted Him with their substance.

¹ Now it came to pass while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul having passed through the upper parts of Asia came to Ephesus:

²³ for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; ²⁴ being justified freely by his grace, because of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

¹⁵ God forbid! For He saith to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." ¹⁶ So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. ¹⁷ And the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, for this very purpose have I raised thee up, that I may shew forth my power in thee, and that my name may be declared through all the earth. ¹⁸ So then He hath mercy on whom He pleaseth, and whom He will, He hardeneth. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say then, Why doth he yet blame us? who hath resisted his will? ²⁰ Nay but, O man, who art thou, that disputest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus? ²¹ Hath not the potter power over the clay, out of the same mass to make one vessel to honor and another to dishonor? ²² And what if God, though resolved to shew his displeasure at last, and to make known his power, yet bore with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction? ²³ and that He might make known the riches of his glory in the vessels of mercy, which He hath prepared for glory?

⁸ But I shall stay at Ephesus till Pentecost. For a great and effectual door is opened to me,

¹ Now concerning the relief intended for the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

⁴ But God being rich in mercy, through his great love wherewith He loved us,

¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? are not ye also among others in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

³ As I exhorted thee to stay at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain persons not to teach other doctrine,

¹² for which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed: for I know in whom I have trusted, and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him against that day.

¹⁶ The Lord shew mercy to the family of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: but when he was at Rome,

¹² And I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.

¹⁰ For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shewn to his name, by having ministred to the saints, and yet ministring.

¹⁰ concerning which salvation the prophets, who prophesied of the grace to be conferred on you, enquired and diligently sought after it:

¹ To the angel of the church at Ephesus write, These things saith He that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
