²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus, again answering, saith to them, "Children, how difficult it is [for those who trust in riches] to enter into the Kingdom of God!

²⁵ And the disciples, having heard it, were amazed exceedingly, saying, "Who, then, can be saved? "

¹⁶ And He spake a parable to them, saying, "A certain rich man's field yielded bountifully; ¹⁷ and he reasoned within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have not where to store my fruits?' ¹⁸ And he said, 'This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there will I store all my grain and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'Senseless one! this night they require your soul of you; and the things you prepared, whose shall they be?' ²¹ So is he who is laying up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

¹⁴ And the Pharisees, being lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and were openly mocking Him.

²⁶ And those hearing it said, "And who can be saved?" ²⁷ But He said, "The things impossible with men are possible with God."

⁶⁰ Many, therefore, of His disciples, having heard this, said, "This is a hard saying! Who can hear it?"

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye will seek Me; and, as I said to the Jews, 'Whither I go ye cannot come;' so now I say to you.

⁵ Jesus, therefore, saith to them, "Little children, have ye anything to eat?" They answered Him, "No."

¹⁹ my little children, for whom I am in travail again, until Christ be formed in you!

¹⁷ Charge those who are rich in this present age, not to be high-minded, nor to have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, Who giveth us richly all things for enjoyment;

¹ Come now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that are coming upon you! ² Your wealth has become corrupted, and your garments have become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are covered with rust, and their rust will be for a witness against you, and will eat your flesh, as fire. Ye laid up treasures in the last days!

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin. And, if any one sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous.

⁴ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He Who is in you, than he that is in the world.

²¹ Little children, guard yourselves from idols.

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing'; and do not know that you are the wretched one, and pitiable, and poor, and blind, and naked!
