⁷ Let us be glad and shout for joy and give Him glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.

² "The kingdom of heaven is like a king, who gave a wedding reception for his son.

¹ "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. ² Now five of them were thoughtless and five were thoughtful, ³ for the thoughtless ones took their lamps but took no oil with them. ⁴ But the thoughtful ones not only took their lamps but also extra oil in their oil cans. ⁵ While the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and dropped off to sleep. ⁶ But at midnight there was a shout, 'Here comes the bridegroom! Go out to meet him!' ⁷ Then all those bridesmaids awoke and trimmed their lamp-wicks. ⁸ And the thoughtless ones said to the thoughtful ones, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' ⁹ But the thoughtful ones answered, 'No, no, there may not be enough for you and us. Go to the store and buy your own oil.' ¹⁰ And while they were going to buy it, the bridegroom came, and the bridesmaids that were ready went in with him to the wedding reception; and the door was closed.

³⁶ and be like men waiting for their master when he comes home from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks, they at once may open the door for him.

²⁹ It is the bridegroom who has the bride, but the bridegroom's friend, who stands outside and listens to him, is very happy to hear the bridegroom's voice. So this happiness of mine is running over.

² For I feel a divine jealousy for you, as I betrothed you to Christ, to present you as a pure bride to her one husband.

²³ for a husband is the head of his wife, just as Christ is the Head of the church, His body, and Saviour of it.

³² This is a great secret; I mean this about Christ and the church.

³ For we are the true circumcision, who by the Spirit of God worship Him, who take pride in Christ Jesus only, and do not rely on outward privileges,

⁹ Then he said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are they who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.' These," he said to me, "are the true words of God."

² And I saw the new Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride to join her husband.

⁹ Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls that were full of the seven plagues came and talked with me, and said, "Come; I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."
