Revelation 17 Cross References - Williams

1 Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls came and spoke to me, saying: "Come, I will show you the doom of the noted prostitute who is seated on many waters, 2 in whose prostitution the kings of the earth have joined, and with the wine of whose prostitution the inhabitants of the earth have been intoxicated." 3 So he carried me away in spiritual rapture to a desert, and I saw a woman seated on a scarlet wild beast, covered with blasphemous titles; he had seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, decorated in gold and precious stones and pearls, and she had in her hand a cup of gold, full of abominations and the impurities of her immorality. 5 On her forehead was written a name with a symbolical meaning, "Mighty Babylon, the mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations." 6 I saw the woman drinking herself drunk with the blood of God's people and the blood of the martyred witnesses to Jesus. When I saw her, I was utterly astonished, 7 but the angel said to me: "Why are you astonished? I will tell you the symbolical meaning of the woman, and the wild beast with seven heads and ten horns, that carries her. 8 The wild beast that you saw, once was but now is no more; he is going to come up out of the abyss, but he is going to be destroyed. The inhabitants of the earth, whose names from the foundation of the world have not been written in the book of life, will be astonished when they see that the wild beast once was but now is no more, and yet is to come. 9 Here is scope for a mind that is packed with wisdom. The seven heads are the seven hills on which the woman is seated. 10 There are also seven kings; five have fallen, one is on the throne, the other has not yet come, and when he does he must stay but a little while, 11 So it is with the wild beast that once was but is no more; he is the eighth, and yet is one of the seven, and he is going to be destroyed. 12 The ten horns that you saw are ten kings, who have not yet become kings, but for a single hour they accept authority as kings allied with the wild beast. 13 They have one common policy. They give their power and authority to the wild beast. 14 They will make war upon the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them, and His chosen, elect, and faithful followers will conquer with Him, too, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings." 15 He also said to me: "The waters that you saw, on which the prostitute was seated, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages. 16 The ten horns that you saw and the wild beast will be the very ones to hate the prostitute, to make her desolate and naked, to eat up her flesh, and burn her up with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to carry out His purpose by giving up their authority to the wild beast until God's words are carried out. 18 And the woman whom you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth."

Revelation 6:9-10

9 When He broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered for being faithful to God's message and for the testimony they bore to it. 10 Then in a loud voice they cried out, "Holy and true Master, how long will you refrain from charging and avenging our blood upon the inhabitants of the earth?" 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to keep quiet a little while longer, until the number of their fellow-slaves and brothers, who were killed as they had been, was complete. 12 When He broke the sixth seal, I looked, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun turned black as sackcloth, and the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, just as a fig tree, when shaken by a violent wind, drops its unripe figs. 14 The sky was swept away just like a scroll that is rolled up; and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15 The kings of the earth, the great men, the military leaders, the rich, the mighty -- everybody, whether slaves or free hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 And they said to the mountains and the rocks: "Fall on us and conceal us from the sight of Him who is seated on the throne, and from the anger of the Lamb, 17 because the great day of their anger has come, and who can stand it?"

To him the dragon gave his own power and throne with great authority.

2 The wild beast which I saw was like a leopard, but his feet were like a bear's, and his mouth was like a lion's mouth. To him the dragon gave his own power and throne with great authority. 3 I saw that one of his heads seemed to have been mortally wounded, but its mortal wound had been healed. And the whole world was so amazed that they followed the wild beast,

Revelation 13:3-12

3 I saw that one of his heads seemed to have been mortally wounded, but its mortal wound had been healed. And the whole world was so amazed that they followed the wild beast, 4 and worshiped the dragon for giving the wild beast his authority; they also worshiped the wild beast, and said, "Who is there like the wild beast? Who is there to make war on him?"

Revelation 13:4-12

4 and worshiped the dragon for giving the wild beast his authority; they also worshiped the wild beast, and said, "Who is there like the wild beast? Who is there to make war on him?" 5 Then there was given to the wild beast a mouth that uttered boastful, blasphemous words, and permission to wield his authority for forty-two months.

Revelation 13:5-12

5 Then there was given to the wild beast a mouth that uttered boastful, blasphemous words, and permission to wield his authority for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth to blaspheme against God, His name, and His dwelling place; that is, against those who live in heaven.

Revelation 13:6-12

6 Then he opened his mouth to blaspheme against God, His name, and His dwelling place; that is, against those who live in heaven. 7 Permission was given to him to make war on God's people and to conquer them; authority was given to him over every tribe, people, language, and nation.

7 Permission was given to him to make war on God's people and to conquer them; authority was given to him over every tribe, people, language, and nation.

Revelation 13:8-8

8 All the inhabitants of the earth whose names, from the foundation of the world, have not been written in the slaughtered Lamb's book of life, will worship him. 9 If anyone has ears let him listen. 10 Whoever leads others into captivity will go into captivity himself. Whoever kills with the sword must be killed with the sword himself. In this way will be shown the patient endurance and the fidelity of God's people. 11 Then I saw another wild beast coming up out of the land. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. 12 He exercises the full authority of the first wild beast in his presence; he makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first wild beast, whose mortal wound had been healed.

Revelation 13:15

15 Permission has also been given him to impart life to the statue of the wild beast so that it can speak, and to have all who do not worship the statue of the wild beast killed.

Revelation 13:18

18 Here is scope for wisdom! Let anyone who has the mental keenness calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is the number of a certain man; his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Revelation 14:1-4

1 Then I looked, and there the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand people who had His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of great waters and the rumbling of loud thunders. The sound that I heard was like that of harpists playing on their harps. 3 They were singing a new song before the throne, the four living creatures, and the elders, and no one could learn the song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth. 4 These are the men who have not been defiled by relations with women, for they are as pure as virgins, These are the men who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been redeemed from among men as the first fruits for God and the Lamb,

Revelation 14:8

8 Then a second angel followed, saying: "She has fallen! Mighty Babylon has fallen, who made all the nations drink the wine of vengeance due her immorality!"

Revelation 14:8-20

8 Then a second angel followed, saying: "She has fallen! Mighty Babylon has fallen, who made all the nations drink the wine of vengeance due her immorality!" 9 Then a third angel followed them, saying in a loud voice: "Whoever worships the wild beast and his statue and lets his mark be stamped on his forehead or on his hand, 10 himself will have to drink the wine of God's vengeance, poured unmixed into the cup of His wrath, and be tortured with fire and brimstone before the eyes of the holy angels and the Lamb. 11 The smoke of their torture will go up forever and ever, and they will have no rest day or night -- those who worship the wild beast and his statue, and anyone who bears the mark of his name." 12 In this way is shown the patient endurance of God's people, who always cling to God's commands and their faith in Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who from this time die as Christians.'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "let them rest from their toils, for the things they have done are going with them." 14 Then I looked, and there was a bright cloud with one seated on it like the Son of man, with a crown of gold on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 Then another angel came out of the temple and cried in a loud voice to Him who was seated on the cloud, "Put forth your sickle and reap, for the time to reap has come, because the earth's harvest is ripe." 16 So He who was seated on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped. 17 Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came from the altar, who had power over the fire, and he called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, "Put forth your sharp sickle, and gather the bunches of grapes from the earth's vine, because its grapes are fully ripe." 19 So the angel swung his sickle over the earth and gathered the grapes of the earth's vine, and flung them into the wine press of God's wrath, 20 The grapes in the wine press were trodden outside the city, and blood streamed from the wine press until it reached the horses' bridles for a distance of two hundred miles.

Revelation 15:1

1 Then I saw another symbol in heaven, great and wonderful: seven angels bringing seven plagues which are to be the last, because with them God's wrath is completely expressed.

Revelation 15:6-7

6 and the seven angels bringing the seven plagues came out of the sanctuary. They were clothed in clean, brilliant linen and had belts of gold around their breasts. 7 Then one of the four living creatures gave the seven angels seven bowls of gold, full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever,

Revelation 16:1-18

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the sanctuary say to the seven angels: "Go and empty the seven bowls of God's wrath upon the earth." 2 So the first angel went and emptied his bowl upon the earth, and horrible, painful sores broke out on the men who bore the mark of the wild beast and worshiped his statue. 3 Then the second angel emptied his bowl into the sea, and it turned into blood like a dead man's, and every living thing that was in the sea died. 4 Then the third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned into blood. 5 Then I heard the angel of the waters say: "You are just in passing such a sentence, you who are and were, you the Holy One. 6 Because they have shed the blood of your people and prophets, you have given them blood to drink; they deserve it."

Revelation 16:6-18

6 Because they have shed the blood of your people and prophets, you have given them blood to drink; they deserve it." 7 And I heard the altar say, "Yes, Lord God Almighty! Your sentences are true and just." 8 Then the fourth angel emptied his bowl upon the sun, and permission was given it to scorch mankind with its fiery heat, 9 so that men were severely scorched, but they only cursed the name of God who had authority over these plagues, and would not repent and give Him glory. 10 Then the fifth angel emptied his bowl upon the throne of the wild beast, and his kingdom was shrouded in darkness, and men in agony gnawed their tongues, 11 and cursed the God of heaven because of their sufferings and sores, but they would not repent of what they had done. 12 Then the sixth angel emptied his bowl upon the great river Euphrates, and its waters were dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.

Revelation 16:12

12 Then the sixth angel emptied his bowl upon the great river Euphrates, and its waters were dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 Then I saw three foul spirits leap like frogs from the mouth of the dragon, from the mouth of the wild beast, and from the mouth of the false prophet. 14 They are the spirits of demons that perform wonders, and they go forth to the kings of the whole world, to muster them for battle on the great day of the Almighty God.

Revelation 16:14

14 They are the spirits of demons that perform wonders, and they go forth to the kings of the whole world, to muster them for battle on the great day of the Almighty God. 15 (See! I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes ready, so that he may not go naked and people see his shame.) 16 So they mustered the kings at the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. 17 Then the seventh angel emptied his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the sanctuary from the throne, saying, "It is done." 18 Then there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder; then there was a great earthquake, an earthquake so great that none like it had ever been since man first existed on the earth. 19 The great city was broken into three parts; the cities of the heathen fell, and God remembered to give mighty Babylon the cup of the wine of His raging wrath,
