³⁸ For just as in the days before the Flood people went on eating and drinking, marrying and being married, until the very day Noah entered the ark,

³⁰ for after the resurrection men do not marry and women are not married, but continue to live together as the angels do in heaven.

¹⁹ Then I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Go on taking your ease; continue to eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."'

²⁶ And just as it was in the time of Noah, so it will be in the time of the Son of Man. ²⁷ People continued to eat, drink, marry, and be married, right up to the day when Noah went into the ark, and the Flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ It was so in the time of Lot; people continued to eat, drink, buy, sell, plant, and build;

³⁴ But ever be on your guard, so that your hearts may not be loaded down with self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries, and that day, like a trap, catch you unawares.

¹³ Let us live becomingly for people who are in the light of day, not in carousing and drunkenness, nor in sexual immorality and licentiousness, nor in quarreling and jealousy. ¹⁴ Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and put a stop to gratifying the evil desires that lurk in your lower nature.

²⁹ I mean this, brothers. The time has been cut short. For the future, men who have wives should live as though they had none, ³⁰ and those that mourn as though they did not mourn, and those who are glad as though they were not glad, and those who buy as though they did not own a thing, ³¹ and those who are enjoying the world as though they were not entirely absorbed in it. For the outward order of this world is passing away.
