¹⁹ Then they began to say to Him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You do not know either me or my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father too."

²⁵ At that time Jesus said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for concealing these matters from wise and learned men, and for revealing them to little children.

²¹ At that very moment, by the power of the Holy Spirit, He exulted and said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for concealing these matters from wise and learned men, and for revealing them to little children. ¹⁰ He came into the world, and though the world through Him began to exist, it did not recognize Him.

¹⁸ No one has ever seen God; the only son, Deity Himself, who lies upon His Father's breast, has made him known.

²⁸ So Jesus, as He was teaching in the temple, cried out, "Yes, you do know me and you do know where I come from, and I have not come on my own authority, but the One who has sent me exists as the Real One, whom you do not know.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, such glory amounts to nothing. It is the Father who glorifies me; and you claim that He is your God. ⁵⁵ And yet you have not learned to know Him; but I know Him, and if I say I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you. On the other hand, I do know Him and I do follow His teaching.

¹⁴ I am the good shepherd myself. I know my sheep and my sheep know me, ¹⁵ just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I am giving my own life for my sheep.

⁶ Jesus answered him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. ⁷ If you knew me, you would know my Father too. From now on you do know Him and you have seen Him." ⁸ Philip said to Him, "Lord, let us see the Father, and that will satisfy us." ⁹ Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you disciples so long, and yet you, Philip, have not recognized me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Let us see the Father'?

²¹ They will do all this to you on account of me, because they do not know Him who has sent me.

³ They will do this, because they have never come to know God nor me.

³ Now eternal life means knowing you as the only true God and knowing Jesus your messenger as Christ.

²⁵ Righteous Father, although the world did not know you, I did know you, and these men have come to know that you sent me, ²⁶ and I made known to them your very self, and I will make you known still further, so that the love which you have shown to me may be felt in them, and I in union with them."

³⁴ Sober up, as is right, and stop sinning, for some of you -- to your shame I say so -- are without any true knowledge of God.

⁴ In their case, the god of this world has blinded the eyes of the unbelievers, to keep the glorious light of the good news of Christ, who is the likeness of God, from dawning upon them. ⁵ For I am not proclaiming myself but Christ Jesus as Lord, and myself a slave of yours for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in my heart, to give me the light of the knowledge of God's glory, reflected on the face of Christ.

⁹ but now, since you have come to know God, or rather have come to be known by Him, how can you turn back to your own crude notions, so weak and worthless, and wish to become slaves to them again?

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may grant you the Spirit to give wisdom and revelation which come through a growing knowledge of Him,

¹⁰ so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord to His full satisfaction, by perennially bearing fruit in every good enterprise and by a steady growth in fuller knowledge of God;

¹⁵ Yes, He is the exact likeness of the unseen God, His first-born Son who existed before any created thing,

³ He is the reflection of God's glory and the perfect representation of His being, and continues to uphold the universe by His mighty word. After He had procured man's purification from sins, He took His seat at the right hand of God's majesty,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us insight to recognize the True One; and we are in union with the True One through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

⁹ No one has God, who goes too far and fails to stay by the teaching of Christ. Whoever stays by this teaching has the Father and the Son.
