⁷ You married men, in the same way, must live with your wives in an intelligent consideration of them; you must show them deference, too, as the weaker sex, as they share with you the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

²³ So if, in the very act of presenting your gift at the altar, you remember that your brother has something against you, ²⁴ leave your grit right there at the altar, and first go and make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your gift.

¹⁹ "Again, I tell you, if only two of you on earth agree on what they pray for, they will get it from my Father in heaven.

³ And some Pharisees came up to Him, to try Him out with the question, "Is it right for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?" ⁴ And He answered, "Have you not read that the Creator at the beginning made them male and female, ⁵ and said, 'For this reason a man must leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two of them must be one!' ⁶ So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together man must stop separating." ⁷ Then they asked Him, "Why did Moses command us to give a written divorce charge, and in this way to divorce a wife?" ⁸ He answered them, "It was because of your moral perversity that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but it was not so from the beginning. ⁹ I tell you, whoever divorces his wife for any other cause than her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery."

²⁶ In the same way the Spirit, too, is helping us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself pleads for us with unspeakable yearnings, ²⁷ and He who searches our hearts knows what the Spirit thinks, for He pleads for His people in accordance with God's will.

³ The husband must always give his wife what is due her, and the wife too must do so for her husband.

²² No, on the contrary, even those parts of the body that seem to be most delicate are indispensable, ²³ and the parts of it we deem devoid of honor we dress with special honor, and our ill-shaped parts receive more careful attention, ²⁴ while our well-shaped parts do not want for anything. Yes, God has perfectly adjusted the body, giving great honor to its apparently inferior parts,

⁶ that the heathen through union with Christ Jesus are fellow-heirs with the Jews, are members with them of the same body, and sharers with them of the promise through the good news,

³⁰ You must stop offending the Holy Spirit of God by whom you have been stamped for the day of redemption.

²⁵ You married men must love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her, ²⁶ to consecrate her, after cleansing her through His word, as pictured in the water bath, ²⁷ that He might present the church to Himself as a splendid bride without a blot or wrinkle or anything like it, but to be consecrated and faultless. ²⁸ This is the way married men ought to love their wives, as they do their own bodies. The married man who loves his wife is really loving himself,

³³ But each one of you married men must love his wife as he loves himself, and the married woman, too, must respect her husband.

¹⁸ Keep on praying in the Spirit, with every kind of prayer and entreaty, at every opportunity, be ever on the alert with perfect devotion and entreaty for all God's people,

¹⁹ You husbands must continue to love your wives and stop being harsh with them.

⁴ that each man among you should learn to take his own wife out of pure and honorable motives,

⁷ so that we might come into right standing with God through His unmerited favor and become heirs of eternal life in accordance with our hope.

¹⁴ Are not the angels all attending spirits sent forth to serve for the sake of those who are going to be unceasing possessors of salvation?
