¹ Paul, by the will of God called as an apostle of Jesus Christ, and our brother Sosthenes, ² to the church of God at Corinth, to those who are consecrated by union with Christ Jesus, and called to be God's people, in fellowship with those who anywhere call upon the name of Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: ³ spiritual blessing and peace to you from God our Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁴ I am always thanking God for you, for the spiritual blessing given you by God through union with Christ Jesus; ⁵ because you have in everything been richly blessed through union with Him, with perfect expression and fullness of knowledge. ⁶ In this way my testimony to Christ has been confirmed in your experience, ⁷ so that there is no spiritual gift in which you consciously come short, while you are waiting for the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁸ and to the very end He will guarantee that you are vindicated at the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ God is entirely trustworthy, and it is He through whom you have been called into this fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. ¹⁰ Now I beg you all, brothers, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, to be harmonious in what you say and not to have factions among you, but to be perfectly harmonious in your minds and judgments. ¹¹ For I have been informed about you, my brothers, by Chloe's people, that there are wranglings among you. ¹² I mean this, that one of you says, "I belong to Paul's party," another, "And I belong to Apollos' party," another, "And I belong to Cephas' party," another, "And I belong to Christ's party." ¹³ Christ has been parceled out by you! It was not Paul who was crucified for you, was it? You were not baptized in Paul's name, were you? ¹⁴ I am thankful that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Gaius, ¹⁵ so as to keep anyone from saying that you were baptized in my name. ¹⁶ Yes, I did baptize the family of Stephanas, too; I do not now recall that I baptized anyone else. ¹⁷ For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the good news -- but not by means of wisdom and rhetoric, so that the cross of Christ may not be emptied of its power. ¹⁸ For the message of the cross is nonsense to those who are in the process of being destroyed, but it is the power of God to those who are in the process of being saved. ¹⁹ For the Scripture says: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the learning of the learned." ²⁰ So where is your philosopher? Where is your man of letters? Where is your logician of this age? Has not God shown up the nonsense of the world's wisdom? ²¹ For since in accordance with the wisdom of God the world had never in reality, by means of its wisdom, come to know God, God chose through the nonsense of the message proclaimed, to save the people who put their faith in Him. ²² While Jews are demanding spectacular signs and Greeks are searching for philosophy, ²³ we are preaching the Christ who was crucified -- a message that is a trap-stick to the Jews and nonsense to the Greeks, ²⁴ but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks alike, the Christ who is God's power and God's wisdom. ²⁵ It is so, because God's nonsense is wiser than men's wisdom, and God's weakness is mightier than men's might. ²⁶ For consider, brothers, the way God called you; that not many of you, in accordance with human standards, were wise, not many influential, not many of high birth. ²⁷ Just the opposite: God chose what the world calls foolish to put the wise to shame, what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame, ²⁸ what the world calls of low degree, yea, what it counts as nothing and what it thinks does not exist, God chose to put a stop to what it thinks exists, ²⁹ so that no mortal man might ever boast in the presence of God. ³⁰ So you owe it all to Him through union with Christ Jesus, whom God has made our wisdom, our means of right standing, our consecration, and our redemption, ³¹ so that, as the Scripture says, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

Whoever continues to eat this bread will live forever." ⁵⁹ He said this as He taught in the synagogue at Capernaum. ⁶⁰ So many of His disciples, when they heard it, said, "This teaching is hard to take in. Who can listen to it?" ⁶¹ But as Jesus naturally knew that His disciples were grumbling about this, He said to them, "Is this shocking to you? ⁶² Suppose you were to see the Son of Man going back where He was before? ⁶³ The Spirit is what gives life; the flesh does not help at all. The truths that I have told you are spirit and life. ⁶⁴ But there are some of you who do not trust in me." For Jesus knew from the start who they were that did not trust in Him, and who it was that was going to betray Him. ⁶⁵ So He continued, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me, unless it is granted to him by my Father." ⁶⁶ As a result of this many of His disciples turned their backs on Him and stopped accompanying Him.

¹⁸ Whoever utters merely his own ideas is seeking his own honor, but whoever seeks the honor of him who sent him is sincere, and there is no dishonesty in him.

⁴³ So the people were divided because of Him,

²⁴ Some days later, Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him talk about faith in Christ Jesus. ²⁵ But as he continued to talk about uprightness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became alarmed, and said, "For the present you may go, but when I find a good opportunity, I will send for you."

Has it come to this, that there is not a single wise man among you who could settle a grievance of one brother against another, ⁶ but one brother has to go to law with another, and that before unbelieving judges? ⁷ To say no more, it is a mark of moral failure among you to have lawsuits at all with one another. Why not rather suffer being wronged? Why not suffer being robbed?

² For I feel a divine jealousy for you, as I betrothed you to Christ, to present you as a pure bride to her one husband.

¹² since you are awaiting and hastening the coming of the day of God, which will cause the heavens to blaze and dissolve and the heavenly bodies to burn up and melt away!

¹⁴ Therefore, dearly beloved, since you are expecting this, be in earnest to be found by Him without a blot, without reproach, and at peace.

¹⁸ but instead, you must continue to grow in the spiritual strength and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever!

³ I repeat, it is what we have seen and heard that we now announce to you, so that you too may share this fellowship with us, for this fellowship that we have is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ;

⁷ But if we continue to live in the light, just as He is in the light, we have unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son continues to cleanse us from every sin.

² Dearly beloved, we are now God's children, but what we are going to be has not been unveiled. We know that if it is unveiled, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.

¹³ By the fact that He has given us a portion of His Spirit we can be sure that we remain in union with Him and He in union with us.

⁶ He is the One who came through water and blood -- Jesus Christ; not through water only but through water and blood. The Spirit also testifies to this, because the Spirit is truth.

¹¹ And this testimony is that God has given us eternal life, and this life is given through union with His Son. ¹² Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life. ¹³ I have written this to you who believe in the person of the Son of God, so that you may know that you already have eternal life.

¹ The Elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I truly love, and not only I but all who know the truth,

¹ The Elder to the dearly beloved Gaius, whom I truly love. ² Dearly beloved, I am praying for you to continue to prosper in everything, and to keep well, just as your soul is prospering. ³ For I am happy to have some brothers come and testify to the truth that is in you, since you are living by the truth. ⁴ I have no greater spiritual blessing than this, to hear that my children are living by the truth.

¹ Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ, and a brother of James, to those who have been called, who are beloved by God the Father and have been kept through union with Jesus Christ:

²¹ you must keep yourselves in the love of God and continue to wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, to bring you to eternal life.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to make you stand in His glorious presence faultless and full of triumphant joy, ²⁵ to the only God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, might, and authority, as it was before all time, both now and forever and ever. Amen.

² who testifies to what he saw, the message of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

⁹ I, John, your brother and companion with you in the trouble, the kingdom, and the patient endurance which Jesus gives, found myself on the island called Patmos, for preaching God's message and testifying to Jesus.

⁹ Then they sang a new song: "You deserve to take the book and break its seals, because you have been slaughtered, and with your blood have bought men from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation,

⁹ When He broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered for being faithful to God's message and for the testimony they bore to it.

¹¹ But they have conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the message to which they bore testimony, because they did not cling to life but courted death.

¹⁷ So the dragon was enraged against the woman, and he went off to make war with the rest of her descendants, who continue to keep God's commands and to bear testimony to Jesus.

⁴ These are the men who have not been defiled by relations with women, for they are as pure as virgins, These are the men who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been redeemed from among men as the first fruits for God and the Lamb,

¹⁷ because in a single hour a wealth so vast has been destroyed!' All ship pilots and all who travel by sea, sailors and seafaring men, stood a long way off

¹⁰ Then I fell before his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must take care not to do that. I am only a fellow-slave of yours and of your brothers who hold to the testimony borne by Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony borne by Jesus is the inspiring spirit of prophecy." ¹¹ Then I saw heaven thrown open and a white horse appeared. His rider was called Faithful and True, and in justice He passes judgment and wages war.

¹⁶ On His garment and on His thigh He has this title written: King of kings and Lord of lords.
