²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

³⁹ By him therefore every one that believes is justified before God, from all things by repentance, from which we could not be justified by the law of Moses.

¹³ For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

²⁸ For we conclude, that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

¹³ For the promise that he should be the heir of the world, [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

¹⁵ Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, [there is] no transgression.

¹³ For until the law, sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

²⁰ Moreover, the law entered, that the offence might abound: But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

⁷ What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. ⁸ But sin taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [is] dead. ⁹ For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

³² Wherefore? Because it was not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law: They stumbled at that stumbling stone;

¹⁶ And knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ; that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

¹⁹ For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in te book of the law to do them. ¹¹ But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, [is] evident: For it is written, that The just shall live by faith. ¹² And the law is not of faith: but, He that doth them, shall live in them. ¹³ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: It is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:

⁴ Christ is become of no effect unto you; whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace.

⁸ For by his grace are we saved, through faith and that not of our selves; [it is] the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast;

⁵ Not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration, and renewing by the Holy Ghost; ⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour: ⁷ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁹ But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whosoever shall fulfil the whole law, and yet offend in one [law,] he is guilty of all.

²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Seest then how faith cooperated with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ²⁵ Likewise also, was not Rahab the innkeeper justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
