¹ Be subject unto all souls that are in authority. For there is no power but of God: those that be, are ordained of God. ² Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist, shall receive to themselves judgment. ³ For rulers are not a terror to a good work, but to an evil one. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: ⁴ For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain; for he is the minister of God, a revenger upon him that doth evil. ⁵ Wherefore, be ye subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. ⁶ For, for this cause pay you tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. ⁷ Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour. ⁸ Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the law. ⁹ For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self. ¹⁰ Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: And love [is] the fulfilling of the law. ¹¹ And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed. ¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast away the works of darkness, but let us put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us walk honestly as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying ¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, unto its lusts.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

¹¹ Jesus answered him, Thou hast no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

¹³ Submit your selves to every human creature for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; ¹⁴ Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him, for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. ¹⁵ For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: ¹⁶ As free, and not using liberty for a cloke of wickedness; but as the servants of God. ¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

¹⁰ But chiefly them that walk after the flesh, in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government: Presumptuous [are they], self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities: ¹¹ Whereas angels who are greater in power and might, bring not a railing accusation against them.

⁸ Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first-begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth: Unto him that loved us, and loosed us from [our] sins in his own blood.

¹⁴ These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they that are with him, [are] called, and chosen, and faithful.

¹⁶ And he hath on his thigh a name written, King of Kings[,] and Lord of lords.

¹³ But wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to enter.

⁴⁰ They devour widows houses, and on the pretence of orphans make long prayers: these shall receive far greater judgement.

⁴⁷ Devouring widows houses, for a shew making long prayers: the same shall receive greater judgement.

⁵ Wherefore, be ye subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

¹ My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation,

¹³ Submit your selves to every human creature for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

⁴ For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain; for he is the minister of God, a revenger upon him that doth evil.

¹⁹ Dearly beloved, avenge not your selves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.

⁶ For, for this cause pay you tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

⁶ That no one should overreach or defraud his brother in that matter: because that the Lord [is] the avenger of all such; as we also have forewarned you, and testified.

¹⁶ And herein do I exercise my self to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work. ² To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

¹⁸ Pray also for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.

¹³ Submit your selves to every human creature for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; ¹⁴ Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him, for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. ¹⁵ For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

¹⁹ For this [is] thank-worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

¹⁶ Having a good conscience; that whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsly accuse your good conversation in Christ.

²⁴ And when they were come to Capharnaum, they that received the half shekels came to Peter, and said unto him, Doth not your master pay the half shekels. ²⁵ He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? ²⁶ He saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. ²⁷ But lest we should give them offence, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up: and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find there a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

¹⁷ What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Cesar, or not? ¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? ¹⁹ Shew me the tribute-money. And they brought unto him a denarius. ²⁰ Jesus saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? ²¹ They say unto him, Cesars. Then saith he unto them, Render unto Cesar, the things which are Cesars; and, unto God, the things which are Gods.

¹⁴ And the Pharisees asked him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Tell us, Is it lawful to give capitation money to Cesar, or not? ¹⁵ But Jesus seeing their hypocrisie, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a denarius that I may see [it]. ¹⁶ And they brought [it]: and he saith unto them, Whose [is] this image and superscription? and they said unto him, Cesars. ¹⁷ But Jesus answering said, Render to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God the things that are Gods. And they marvelled at him.

²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayst and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of anyone; but teachest the way of God in truth. ²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cesar, or no? ²³ But he perceived their wickedness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? ²⁴ Shew me a piece of money: Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cesars. ²⁵ And he said unto them, Render unto Cesar the things which be Cesars, and unto God the things which be Gods. ²⁶ But they could not take hold of his word before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

² And they began to accuse him, saying. We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, but saying, that he himself is Christ, the king.

⁸ He that exhorteth on exhortation: he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

²⁵ He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

²¹ They say unto him, Cesars. Then saith he unto them, Render unto Cesar, the things which are Cesars; and, unto God, the things which are Gods.

¹⁷ But Jesus answering said, Render to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God the things that are Gods. And they marvelled at him.

²⁵ And he said unto them, Render unto Cesar the things which be Cesars, and unto God the things which be Gods.

³³ Nevertheless, That every one of you in particular may love his wife even as himself; and that the wife reverence [the] husband.

² Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment, with promise, ³ That it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live long on the earth.

⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart; as unto Christ:

¹³ And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also, and busy-bodies, speaking things which they ought not.

¹⁷ Let the elders that rule well, be counted worthy of double maintenance, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

¹ Let as many servants as are under te yoke, count their own masters worthy of all honour; that the name of the Lord, and the doctrine be not blasphemed.

¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. ¹⁸ Servants, [be] subject to masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

⁷ Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the manifold grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

¹² Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

³⁹ And the second [is] like unto this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

⁷ Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour.

¹⁰ Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: And love [is] the fulfilling of the law.

¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in you in one word, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self.

¹⁴ And above all these things, [put on] charity, which is the bond of unity.

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is charity, out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned:

⁸ If ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self, ye do well.

¹⁸ He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said thus, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, ¹⁹ Honour father and mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

³⁹ And the second [is] like unto this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self.

¹⁹ Thou knowest the commandment, Do not commit adultery, Do not commit fornication, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour father and mother.

³¹ But the second is like to this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self: there is none other commandment greater than these.

²⁷ And he answering, said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole strength;and thy neighbour as thy self.

²⁰ Thou knowest the commandments: But he said which? And Jesus said This Thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and mother.

⁷ What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. ⁸ But sin taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [is] dead.

¹³ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion of the flesh, but by love of the Spirit serve one another.

⁸ If ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self, ye do well. ⁹ But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whosoever shall fulfil the whole law, and yet offend in one [law,] he is guilty of all.

⁸ Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the law.

⁴ Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not it self, is not puffed up, ⁵ Doth not behave it self unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, ⁶ Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth: ⁷ Covereth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

³ And in the morning Foul weather to day: for the heaven is red and lowering. Ye can discern the face of heaven, but can ye not the signs of the times?

⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not what day the Lord cometh. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. ⁴⁴ Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as you think not, the Son of man cometh.

⁵ But while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. ⁶ And at midnight there was a cry made Behold, the bridegroom! go ye out to meet him. ⁷ Then all these virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

⁴⁰ And he cometh unto his disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, Could ye not thus watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.

³⁵ Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house cometh; at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning; ³⁶ Lest coming out suddenly, he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say unto you [is], Watch.

²⁸ And when these things are coming to pass, then look up, and lift up [your] heads for your redemption draweth nigh.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is short. It remaineth that both they that have wives, be as though they had none; ³⁰ And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; ³¹ And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

¹¹ Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

³⁴ Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and thou shalt lay hold on Christ.

¹ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. ² For your selves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. ³ And when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

⁵ For we are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith, and love, and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

¹³ Nevertheless we look for new heavens and a new earth, and his promises, wherein dwellet righteousness. ¹⁴ Wherefore, Beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent, that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless: ¹⁵ And account the long-suffering of our Lord salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you;

¹² Behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work is.

²⁰ He that testifieth these things, saith, I come quickly. Amen. Come Lord Jesus.

¹⁹ And this is the judgement, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For every one that doth evil things hateth the light, lest his deeds should be reproved by the light. ²¹ But he that doth truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, unto its lusts.

⁷ In the word of truth, in the power of God, in the armour of righteousness, on the right hand, and on the left,

²² That ye put off concerning the former conversation, the old man, who is corrupt according to the deceitful lust:

¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For ye wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. ¹³ Wherefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day; and having done all, ¹⁴ Stand, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye are able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always, with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching unto him, always in supplication for all the saints;

⁸ But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. ⁹ Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; ¹⁰ And have put on the new one, which is renewed in knowledge, after the image of him that created him; ¹¹ Where there is neither male nor female, Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian and Scythian, bond and free: but Christ [is] all, and in all. ¹² Put on therefore as the elect of God holy and beloved bowels of mercies, also kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; ¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye. ¹⁴ And above all these things, [put on] charity, which is the bond of unity. ¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

²¹ Whrefore lay apart all filthiness, and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

¹ Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and evil-speakings,

⁵ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ⁶ For if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

⁸ Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in us: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. ⁹ He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

³ Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophesy, and observe those things which are written therein, for the time is at hand.

¹⁰ And he saith unto me, seal not the sayings of the prophesy of this book: for the time is at hand.

⁴⁸ But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Lord delayeth to come. ⁴⁹ And shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken. ⁵⁰ The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he knoweth not. ⁵¹ And shall cut him in sunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁶ Now they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord, blameless.

¹⁹ But he spake also another parable: There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day.

²⁷ They did eat, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entred into the ark: and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot, they eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded:

³⁴ Take heed to your selves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come upon you unwares.

¹⁵ For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

⁹ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God:

¹⁵ But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. ¹⁶ I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, laciviousness,

²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. ²⁶ Let us not be desirous of vainglory, provoking one another, envying one another.

¹ I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

² And walk in love, as Christ also hath saved us, and hath given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet-smelling savour. ³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named amongst you, as becometh saints. ⁴ [Neither] filthiness, [nor] foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ, and of God.

⁸ For ye were sometimes darkness, but now light in the Lord: walk as children of light,

¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit:

²⁷ Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel;

³ [Do] nothing through strife, or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

¹⁶ Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us be unanimous: let us walk by the same [rule]. ¹⁷ Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them who walk so, as ye have us for an ensample. ¹⁸ For many walk, of whom, we have said to you often, and now tell you weeping, [they are] the enemies of the cross of Christ: ¹⁹ Whose end [is] destruction, whose God [is the] belly: and glory [is] in their shame, who mind earthly things. ²⁰ For our conversation is in heaven, from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things honest, whatsoever things just, whatsoever things pure, whatsoever things lovely, whatsoever things of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if any praise of knowledge think on these things. ⁹ Those things which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

¹⁰ That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the Knowledge of God;

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, and uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

¹² That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

³ For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: ⁴ That every one of you should know how to posses his vessel in sanctification and honour; ⁵ Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not the Lord.

¹² That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and may have lack of nothing.

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

¹⁴ But if then ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife [is], there [is] also confusion, and every evil work.

⁵ Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

¹ Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and evil-speakings, ² As newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation:

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul; ¹² Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by the good works which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

³ For the time past may suffice to have wrought the will of te Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: ⁴ Wherein they think it strange that you run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]: ⁵ Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

¹³ And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, [as] they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime: sporting themselves with their own feasts of charity while they rejoice with you; ¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised in covetous practices: cursed children :

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that in some measure escape from them who live in error: ¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. ²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome; the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

⁶ He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also to walk, even as he walked.

⁴ I rejoiced greatly, that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

²³ And others save, pulling [them] out of the fire; but of some have compassion with fear, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

¹² Therefore, brethren, we are debters, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. ¹³ For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but is ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the flesh, ye shall live.

²⁷ For as many of you as lave been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ.

¹⁶ I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: For these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

²⁴ And they that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh, with the affections and lusts.

²⁴ And that ye put on the new man, who after God is created in righteousness, and holiness, and truth.

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, and uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: ⁶ For which thing's sake, the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience. ⁷ In the which ye also walked some time when ye lived in them. ⁸ But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

¹⁰ And have put on the new one, which is renewed in knowledge, after the image of him that created him; ¹¹ Where there is neither male nor female, Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian and Scythian, bond and free: but Christ [is] all, and in all. ¹² Put on therefore as the elect of God holy and beloved bowels of mercies, also kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul;

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and its lust: but he that doeth the will of God, abideth for ever.
