²⁸ And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to us of salvation, and that of God,

¹⁰ Blessed [are] they who are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs shall be the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall persecute and revile you, and shall say all manner of evil against you for my sake. ¹² Rejoyce, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

²⁸ And fear not them who kill the body, but are nor able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

⁶ And all flesh shall see the salvation of the Lord.

⁴ And I say unto you, my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, and have not any more that they can do. ⁵ But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Him who, after he hath killed, hath power to cast into gehenna; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. ⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? ⁷ But even the very hairs of your head are all numbred. Fear not therefore; for ye are of more value than many sparrows.

¹² But before all these things they will lay their hands on you, and persecute [you],delivering [you] up to the synagogues, and to prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my names sake. ¹³ And it shall turn to you for a testimony. ¹⁴ Settle [it] therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before hand, what ye shall answer. ¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth, and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist. ¹⁶ And ye will be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and [some] of you will they cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye will be hated of all for my names sake. ¹⁸ But an hair of your head shall not perish. ¹⁹ In your patience possess ye your souls.

¹⁹ But Peter answering with John, said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God, to hearken unto you more than unto God, Judge ye. ²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and beard. ²¹ So when they had further threatned them, they let them go, not finding a cause why they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done. ²² For the man was above forty years old, on whom the miracle of healing was shewed. ²³ But the Apostles being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. ²⁴ And when they heard that, and acknowledged the power of God, they lift up [their] voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou [art] God who hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that in them are: ²⁵ Who by the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth in this city against thy holy Son Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were gathered together, ²⁸ To do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. ²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatnings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, ³⁰ By stretching forth [thine] hand to heal: and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy Son Jesus. ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness to every one that would believe.

⁴⁰ And to him they submitted: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten [them,] they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. ⁴¹ The apostles therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for [his] name. ⁴² And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach the Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁸ Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and [that] they will hear it.

¹⁷ And if children, then fellow heirs; heirs of God, and fellow heirs with Christ: if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.

² But after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

⁵ A manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ⁶ Seeing [it is] a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; ⁷ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ⁸ Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

¹¹ [It is] a faithful saying. For if we be dead with [him], we shall also live with [him]: ¹² If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will deny us;

⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: ¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and power, and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁰ Fear not those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and may have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
