² And when they had bound him, they led [him away], and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

¹⁹ And will deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucifie: and the third day he will rise again.

¹ Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Cesar, Pontius Pilate being procurator of Judea, and Herod [being tetrarch of Galilee].and his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea, and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

¹ There were present at that season, some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

³² For he will be delivered unto the Gentiles, and be mocked, and spit on. ³³ And they will scourge [him,] and put him to death: and the third day he will rise again.

²⁰ And going away they sent forth spies, which should feign themselves to be just men, that they might take hold of his words that so they might deliver him unto the governor.

¹² The band therefore and the captain, and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

³³ Then the chief captain came near and took him, and commanded [him] to be bound with two chains; and demanded, who he was, and what he had done.

²⁵ And as they bound him with thongs, he said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

²⁹ Then they departed from him who should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a citizen of Rome, and because he had bound him.

²⁷ But after two years, Porcius Festus came in the room of Felix, and Felix willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.

²⁰ For this cause therefore have I called foryou, to see and to speak with [you]: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

¹³ I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

⁹ Wherein I suffer trouble as an evil-doer, unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

³ Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; them which suffer adversity, as being your selves also in the body.
