³⁸ For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, both marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noe entered into the ark.

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, not are given in marriage; but are as the angels in heaven.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods; Be merry.

⁴⁵ But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants, and maidens, both eating, and drinking, and being drunken:

¹⁸ And they all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said, I have bought a field, and I must needs go and see it: wherefore I cannot come. ¹⁹ And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: Wherefore I cannot come. ²⁰ And another said, I have married a wife: wherefore I cannot come.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They did eat, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entred into the ark: and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot, they eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded:

³⁴ Take heed to your selves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come upon you unwares.

¹³ Let us walk honestly as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying ¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, unto its lusts.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is short. It remaineth that both they that have wives, be as though they had none; ³⁰ And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; ³¹ And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.
