¹⁸ Now the generation of Christ was on this wise, When as Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with Child of the Holy Ghost.

¹ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise-men from the east to Jerusalem, ² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

¹⁶ And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending out of heaven like a dove, and coming upon him.

²⁷ And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed, crying, and saying, Thou son of David have mercy on us.

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried after him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a dæmon.

⁴² Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, Of David. ⁴³ He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying; ⁴⁴ The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I put thine enemies beneath thy feet. ⁴⁵ If David then in the spirit, call him Lord, how is he his son?

³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. ³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest;and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father.

⁶⁹ And hath raised an horn of salvation for us, in the house of David his Servant; ⁷⁰ Ashe spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began;

⁴² Does not the scripture say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his heart* (*read loins), according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ, and to place him on his throne.

²² And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king: to whom also he testified and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, who wilt do all that I will. ²³ God therefore from his seed hath, according to [his] promise, raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made to him of the seed of David, according to the flesh,

¹³ For the promise that he should be the heir of the world, [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

⁵ Whose [are] the fathers; and of whom as concerning the flesh is Christ, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, who is Christ.

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star.

⁸ And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day: and Isaac Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.

⁷ Neither because they are the seed of Abraham, [are they] all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. ⁸ That is, They who are the children of the flesh, these [are] not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. ⁹ For this [is] the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a Son. ¹⁰ And not only [this], but when Rebecca also had conceived at one conception by our father Isaac, ¹¹ For [the children] being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth. ¹² It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. ¹³ As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

¹⁴ For [it is] evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priests.

¹¹ Through faith also the barren Sara her self received strength to conceive a child, when she was past age; because she judged him faithful who had promised.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises, offered up his only begotten: ¹⁸ Of whom it was said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called:

⁵ Ofthe tribe of Juda [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand.

³¹ By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

²⁵ Likewise also, was not Rahab the innkeeper justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

³ What the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin condemned sin in the flesh:

²² Pilate saith unto them What shall we do then with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified.

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were scandalized at him.

⁷ And she brought forth her first born son, and wrapped him in swadling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, and it shall be to all people. ¹¹ For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord.

⁴⁸ And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son why hast thou done thus to us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing, and troubled.

² Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Jesus, he sent two of his disciples,

⁴ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, ⁵ To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons,

²⁶ For such an high priest became us also, holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

⁵ Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

²⁰ For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and observed him, and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly;

⁴ And they said, Moses suffered to give, to write a bill of divorce, and to put [her] away.

²⁵ And there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name [was] Symeon;and this man [was] just and devout, expecting the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

⁴ The priests say unto him, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him, Master this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. ⁵ But Moses in the law commanded, to stone such women, But what sayst thou now?

²² They said unto him, One Cornelius a Centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel, to send for thee to his house, and to hear words of thee.

¹⁹ But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

²² But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judea, in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to depart: But being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:

⁵ And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified.

¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying without, at the hour of incense. ¹¹ But there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² And when Zacharias saw [him], he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. ¹³ And the angel said unto him, Fear not Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel that stand in the presence of God: and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God, unto a city of Galilee, whose name was Nazaret,

⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into the land of Juda, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem:

⁸ But there were in this country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping the night watches over their flocks. ⁹ And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and a glory shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. ¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, and it shall be to all people. ¹¹ For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord. ¹² And let this be a sign unto [you]; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swadling clothes, in a manger. ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the host of Heaven, praising God, and saying, ¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, among men of good will.

¹³ And the angel said unto him, Fear not Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

²⁹ The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.

²⁶ Unto you first, God having raised up his Son, sent him forth to bless [you,] in turning away every one from your iniquities.

¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given to men whereby we must be saved.

³¹ Him hath God exalted in glory, a Prince and a Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins in him.

²³ God therefore from his seed hath, according to [his] promise, raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

³⁸ Be it known unto you therefore, Men, Brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins. ³⁹ By him therefore every one that believes is justified before God, from all things by repentance, from which we could not be justified by the law of Moses.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it: ²⁶ That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water, by the word, ²⁷ That he might himself present it a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

²⁰ And having made peace through his cross to reconcile all things unto himself, whether things upon earth or things in heaven. ²¹ And you that were sometime alienated, and enemies of his mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled, ²² In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable, and unreproveable in his sight: ²³ If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, which was preached to all the creation that is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

²⁵ Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost, that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

¹ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [those] of the whole world.

⁵ And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first-begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth: Unto him that loved us, and loosed us from [our] sins in his own blood. ⁶ And hath made us a kingdom, [and] priests unto God, and his father; to whom [be] glory and dominion for ever. Amen.

¹⁴ And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁵ And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a City called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken [Read, by the prophet Jeremias, from Luk. II. 39. + old MSS.] by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

¹⁷ Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to perfect [them].

¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, presently he is offended.

³⁵ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

²² For these be the days of vengence, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These [were] my words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms concerning me.

³⁵ If he called them gods? unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken:

³⁸ That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Esaias said, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded [them], that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

²⁵ But that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, that They hated me without a cause.

¹² What thou gavest me, that they they may be one as we are. While I was with them, I kept them in thy name. Those that thou gavest me I have kept: And none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

⁹ That the saying might be fulfilled which he spake, that whom thou gavest me, of them I have lost none.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, Ye shall not break a bone of him. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

¹⁸ But what God before had shewed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and her rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the scriptures of the prophets which are read every sabbath, even they have fulfilled [them] in condemning [him.] ²⁸ And finding no cause of death in him, when they had judged him they delivered him to Pilate that he might be slain. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they desired Pilate to crucify him, and when they had obtained that, and had taken him down from the tree, they laid [him] in a sepulchre.

¹⁷ For God hath put into their hearts to fulfil his will, and to give their kingdom unto the wild beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the age.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and pitched his tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

⁹ And the Lord spake to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made to him of the seed of David, according to the flesh, ⁴ And fore ordained the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

¹⁹ To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of the gospel of reconciliation.

¹⁶ And without controversy, great is the mystery [of the word]of godliness: who was manifested in the flesh, justified in Spirit, seen of angels, preached among Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.

¹⁷ Notwithstanding, the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

²² The Lord Jesus Christ [be] with thy spirit. Grace [be] with us: Farewel in peace: Amen.

⁵ His mother saith unto the servants; Whatsoever he saith unto you, do [it]. ⁶ And there were set there six stone water pots, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three metretae a piece. ⁷ Jesus saith unto them, Fill the water-pots with water.  And they filled them up to the brim. ⁸ And Jesus saith unto them, Draw out now and bear unto the steward of the feast.  And they bear [it].

¹⁴ For ye are my friends, if ye shall do what I command you.

⁷ By faith Noah being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which be should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; ²⁵ Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; ²⁶ Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. ²⁷ By saith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. ²⁸ Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the first-born, should touch them. ²⁹ By faith they passed through the Red-sea, as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do, were drowned. ³⁰ By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. ³¹ By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Seest then how faith cooperated with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ²⁵ Likewise also, was not Rahab the innkeeper justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

²⁹ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren.
