²⁶ That Christ ought to have suffered these things, and to have entred into his glory?

⁷ That the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These [were] my words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms concerning me.

⁴⁶ And said unto them, Thus it is written, that Christ should suffer, and rise the third day.

³ Opening and alledging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead: and that this Jesus whom I preach unto you is Christ.

³ For I delivered unto you first of all, that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures: ⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures:

⁸ Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. ⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made for a little while lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. ¹⁰ For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

²² And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. ²³ [It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

² Looking unto Jesus theauthor and finisher of the faith; who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³ Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings for Christ, and the glory that should follow.
