¹² But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion, that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

⁶ Your glorying it not good: Know ye not that a little leaven corrupteth the whole lump?

¹² If others be partakers of power over you, [are] not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

¹⁷ When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh? that with me there should be yes, yes, and, no, no.

¹² For we commend not our selves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that you may have somewhat for them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

¹⁷ But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

⁹ And when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me, the brethren who came from Macedonia, supplied: and in all things I have kept my self from being burdensom unto you, and will keep [my self].

¹⁸ Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

⁷ Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹³ For neither they themselves who are circumcised, keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. ¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will. ¹⁶ But one preach [Christ] of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. ¹⁷ The other preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds; ¹⁸ What then? notwithstanding every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. ¹⁹ For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, ²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. ²¹ For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain. ²² But whether I live in the flesh, this [is] worth my while; yet what I shall choose, I wot not. ²³ But I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: ²⁴ Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh, [is] more needful for you. ²⁵ And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith: ²⁶ That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me, by my coming to you again. ²⁷ Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel; ²⁸ And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to us of salvation, and that of God, ²⁹ For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; ³⁰ Having the same conflict which ye both saw in me, and now hear [to be] in me.

¹⁴ I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
