⁷ Desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

¹⁴ Let these that are blind alone: they be blind leaders. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

²⁷ And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

¹⁶ Wo unto you, ye blind guides, who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debter. ¹⁷ Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold or the temple that hath sanctified the gold? ¹⁸ And whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoever sweareth by he gold that is upon it, he is a debter. ¹⁹ Ye fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? ²⁰ Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. ²¹ And whoso shall have sworn by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that hath dwelt therein. ²² And he that shall have sworn by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. ²³ Wo unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. ²⁴ Ye blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

⁹ Nicodemus answered and said unto him; How can these things be? ¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

⁴⁰ But some of the Pharisees who were with him heard, and said unto him, Are we blind also? ⁴¹ Jesus therefore said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see: therefore your sins remain.

¹ And certain men who came down from Judea, taught the brethren, Except ye be circumcised, and walk after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools:

¹⁹ And art confident that thou thy self art a guide of the blind, a light of them who are in darkness, ²⁰ An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, who hast the form of knowledge, and of the truth in the law. ²¹ Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thy self? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

² This only would I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of Faith?

⁵ He therefore that ministreth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, is it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

²¹ Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

³ For I testify to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debter to do the whole law. ⁴ Christ is become of no effect unto you; whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace.

⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof are begotten envyings, strifes, railings, evil surmisings,

⁷ Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

¹⁰ For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, but especially they of the circumcision: ¹¹ Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

¹² But these, as natural brute beasts, made to catch people and to corrupt them, speak evil of the things that they understand not, and shall perish in their own corruption;
