²¹ But the righteousness of God without the law is now manifested, being attested by the law and the prophets,

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith:

³ For they being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

⁹ that I may gain Christ, And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:

¹ For the law having a shadow of good things to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices which they offer year by year continually, make the comers thereunto perfect.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spake to you, being yet with you, that all things written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms concerning me, must be fulfilled.

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael and saith to him, We have found him, whom Moses in the law and the prophets described, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, ¹⁵ That whosoever believeth on him, may not perish, but have everlasting life.

⁴⁶ For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. ⁴⁷ But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

²¹ who was before appointed, Whom heaven must receive, till the times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets. ²² For Moses truly said to the fathers, The Lord your God shall raise you up a prophet of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things, whatsoever he shall say to you. ²³ And every soul who will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. ²⁴ Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and them that followed, whosoever have spoken, have also foretold these days. ²⁵ Ye are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

⁴³ To him give all the prophets witness, that every one who believeth in him, shall receive forgiveness of sins through his name.

¹¹ But we believe, that through the grace of the Lord Jesus, we shall be saved, even as they.

²² But having obtained help from God, I continue till this day, testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what both the prophets and Moses have declared should be,

²³ And having appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he expounded the kingdom of God, testifying and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and the prophets, from morning till evening.

² Which he had promised before, by his prophets in the holy scriptures,

¹⁷ For the righteousness of God is revealed therein from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

¹⁹ For as by the disobedience of one man, many were constituted sinners, so by the obedience of one, many shall be constituted righteous.

²¹ That as sin had reigned through death, so grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁶ But now made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God,

³⁰ and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

²¹ For he hath made him, who knew no sin, a sin-offering for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God through him.

⁸ And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, declared before the glad tidings to Abraham, In thee shall all the nations be blessed.

⁵ For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

² Otherwise would they not have ceased to be offered? Because the worshipers, having been once purged, would have had no more consciousness of sins. ³ But in those sacrifices, there is a commemoration of sins every year. ⁴ For it is impossible, that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ⁵ Therefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou hast not chosen, but a body hast thou prepared for me. ⁶ Burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast not delighted in. ⁷ Then I said, Lo I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering, and burnt-offerings and offering for sin thou hast not chosen, neither delighted in, which are offered by the law: ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come, to do thy will. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second: ¹⁰ By which will we are sanctified, through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest standeth daily ministring and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: ¹² But he having offered one sacrifice for sins, ¹³ for ever sat down at the right hand of God, From thenceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. ¹⁴ For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

⁴ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained a testimony that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and by it, being dead he yet speaketh. ⁵ By faith Enoch was translated so as not to see death, and was not found, because God had translated him; for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. ⁶ But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. ⁷ By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his houshold, by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, being called to go out into the place which he was to receive for an inheritance, obeyed and went out, not knowing whither he went. ⁹ By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint heirs of the same promise. ¹⁰ For he looked for the city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. ¹¹ By faith Sarah also herself received power to conceive seed, even when she was past age, because she accounted him faithful who had promised. ¹² Therefore there sprang even from one, and him as it were dead, as the stars of heaven for multitude, and as the sand which is on the sea-shore innumerable. ¹³ All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and embraced them, and confest that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. ¹⁴ For they who speak thus, shew plainly, that they seek their own country. ¹⁵ And truly if they had been mindful of that from which they came out, they might have had opportunity to return. ¹⁶ But they now desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared a city for them. ¹⁷ By faith Abraham, being tried, offered up Isaac, and he that had received the promises, offered up his only begotten son: ¹⁸ Of whom it had been said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called: ¹⁹ Accounting that God was able even to raise him from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. ²⁰ By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, concerning things to come. ²¹ By Faith Jacob when dying blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. ²² By faith Joseph, when dying, made mention of the children of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones. ²³ By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months, by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child, and they were not afraid of the king's commandment. ²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, ²⁵ Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. ²⁶ Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he looked off unto the recompence of reward. ²⁷ By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing him that is invisible. ²⁸ By faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the first born should touch them. ²⁹ By faith they passed thro' the Red Sea, as by dry land, which the Egyptians trying to do, were drowned. ³⁰ By faith the walls of Jericho, having been compassed seven days, fell down. ³¹ By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with them that believed not, having received the spies with peace. ³² And what shall I say more? For the time would fail me, to tell of Gideon, and Barak, and Sampson, and Jephthah, and David, and Samuel, and the prophets: ³³ Who by faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴ Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness was made strong, became valiant in fight, put to flight armies of the aliens; Women received their dead raised to life again: ³⁵ others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. ³⁶ And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheep-skins, in goat-skins, destitute, afflicted, tormented: ³⁸ (Of whom the world was not worthy) they wandered in deserts, and mountains, and dens, and caves of the earth. ³⁹ And all these having obtained a good testimony thro' faith, ⁴⁰ did not receive the promise, God having provided some better thing for us, that they might not be perfected without us.

¹⁰ who prophesied of the grace of God toward you.
