Romans 10 Cross References - Wesley

1 Brethren, the desire of my heart, and my prayer to God for Israel is, that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them record, that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is by the law, The man who doth these things shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness which is by faith speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven, (that is, to bring Christ down:) 7 Or who shall descend into the deep? 8 (that is, to bring Christ again from the dead) But what saith he? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith which we preach: 9 That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart, that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Every one that believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord of all, is rich to all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved. 14 But how shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 But how shall they preach, unless they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them who bring the good tidings of peace, who bring the glad tidings of good things! 16 But all have not obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily; their voice is gone into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. 19 But I say, Hath not Israel known? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are not a nation; by a foolish nation I will anger you. 20 But Isaiah is very bold and saith, I was found by them that sought me not: I was made manifest to them that asked not after me. 21 Whereas with regard to Israel he saith, All the day have I stretched forth my hands to an unbelieving and gainsaying people.

Matthew 20:1-15

1 For the kingdom of heaven is like an housholder, who went out early in the morning, to hire labourers into his vineyard. 2 And having agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the market-place. 4 And said to them, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right, I will give you. And they went. 5 Again going out about the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise. 6 And going out about the eleventh hour, he found others standing idle and saith to them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say to him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith to them, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right ye shall receive. 8 And in the evening the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. 9 And when they came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every one a penny. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every one a penny. 11 And having received it, they murmured against the housholder, saying, 12 These last have wrought one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13 And he answering said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong. 14 Didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take what is thine, and go: it is my will, to give to this last, even as to thee? 15 Is it not lawful for me, to do what I will with my own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few chosen.

Matthew 21:33-43

33 Hear another parable. There was a certain housholder, who planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine-press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. 34 And when the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it. 35 And the husbandmen taking his servants, beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again he sent other servants more than the first; and they did to them likewise. 37 Last of all he sent to them his Son, saying, They will reverence my Son. 38 But the husbandmen seeing the Son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come let us kill him and seize on his inheritance. 39 And taking him, they cast him out of the vineyard and slew him. 40 When therefore the Lord of the vineyard cometh, what will he do to those husbandmen? 41 They say to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen who will render him the fruits in their seasons. 42 Jesus saith to them, Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, is become the head of the corner? This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes. 43 Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

Matthew 22:3-7

3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were invited, to the marriage; but they would not come. 4 Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them who were invited, behold I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage. 5 But they slighting it, went one to his farm, another to his merchandise. 6 And the rest laying hold on his servants, treated them shamefully and slew them. 7 And the king hearing it was wroth, and sending forth his troops, destroyed those murderers and burnt their city.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, both to the Jew and to the Gentile.

Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, both to the Jew and to the Gentile. 17 For the righteousness of God is revealed therein from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:17-17

17 For the righteousness of God is revealed therein from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:21-22

21 Because knowing God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their reasonings, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Romans 2:4

4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Romans 2:8

8 But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be indignation and wrath,

Romans 3:3

3 For what if some believed not? Shall their unbelief disannul the faithfulness of God?

Romans 3:22

22 Even the righteousness of God, by the faith of Jesus Christ, to all and upon all that believe; for there is no difference:

Romans 3:25-31

25 Whom God hath set forth as a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness by the remission of past sins, through the forbearance of God: For a demonstration,

Romans 3:25

25 Whom God hath set forth as a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness by the remission of past sins, through the forbearance of God: For a demonstration, 26 I say, of his righteousness in this present time, that he might be just, and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.

Romans 3:26-31

26 I say, of his righteousness in this present time, that he might be just, and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? 28 Nay, but by the law of faith. We conclude then, that a man is justified by faith, without the works of the law. 29 Is God the God of the Jews only, and not also of the Gentiles? Surely of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God who will justify the circumcision by faith,

Romans 3:29-30

29 Is God the God of the Jews only, and not also of the Gentiles? Surely of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God who will justify the circumcision by faith, 30 and the uncircumcision through the same faith.

Romans 3:30-30

30 and the uncircumcision through the same faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Romans 4:11-12

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which he had in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all who believe in uncircumcision, that righteousness may be imputed to them also, 12 And the father of the circumcision, to them who not only are of the circumcision, but also walk in the footsteps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision. 13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham or to his seed by the law, but by the righteousness of faith.

Romans 4:25

25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Romans 5:19

19 For as by the disobedience of one man, many were constituted sinners, so by the obedience of one, many shall be constituted righteous.

Romans 6:17

17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were the servants of sin, ye have now obeyed from the heart the form of doctrine into which ye have been delivered.

Romans 7:1-4

1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law) that the law hath dominion over a man, as long as it liveth? 2 For the married woman is bound to her husband while he is alive; but if her husband be dead, she is freed from the law of her husband. 3 Therefore if she marry another man while her husband liveth, she will be called an adultress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law, so as to be no adultress, though she marry another man. 4 Thus ye also, my brethren, are dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye might be married to another, even to him who was raised from the dead, that we may bring forth fruit to God.

Romans 7:10

10 sin revived, and I died, And the commandment, which was intended for life, this I found unto death.

Romans 8:3-4

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God hath done: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, to be a sacrifice for sin, he hath condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:34

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right-hand of God, who likewise maketh intercession for us.

Romans 9:1-3

1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not; my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost? 2 That I have great sorrow and continual anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ, for my brethren, my kinsmen after the flesh:

Romans 9:23-24

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, whom he had before prepared for glory? 24 Even us whom he hath called, not only of the Jews, but also of the Gentiles:

Romans 15:12

12 And again Isaiah faith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and one arising to rule over the Gentiles: in him shall the Gentiles hope.

Romans 15:19

19 by the power of the Spirit, so that I have fully preached the Gospel of Christ, from Jerusalem round about, as far as Illyricum.

Romans 16:25-26

25 according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, (according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began, 26 But now made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God,

Romans 16:26

26 But now made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God,

1 Corinthians 1:2

2 and Sosthenes a brother, To the church of God, which is in Corinth, to them that are sanctified through Christ Jesus, called and holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours:

1 Corinthians 1:12

12 Now this I say, every one of you saith, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:18-24

18 For the doctrine of the cross is indeed to them that perish foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and abolish the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For whereas the Jews demand signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom, We preach Christ crucified, 23 to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness: 24 But to them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:30

30 and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

1 Corinthians 7:29

29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that even they that have wives, be as if they had none: And they that weep, as if they wept not;

1 Corinthians 9:20-22

20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews: to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law: 21 To them that are without the law, as without the law, (being not without the law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain them that are without the law. 22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak: I became all things to all men, that by all means I might save some.

1 Corinthians 10:19

19 What say I then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is any thing? or that an idol is any thing?

1 Corinthians 11:22

22 What! have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or do ye despise the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this?

1 Corinthians 12:2

2 Ye know that when ye were heathens, ye were carried away after dumb idols, as ye were led. 3 Therefore I give you to know, that as no one speaking by the Spirit of God, calleth Jesus accursed; so no one can say, Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

1 Corinthians 12:28-29

28 And God hath set in the church, first, apostles, secondly, prophets, thirdly, teachers: afterward miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? have all miraculous powers?

1 Corinthians 15:14-18

14 And if Christ be not raised, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we testified from God, that he raised up Christ, whom he did not raise, if the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, neither is Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are still in your sins. 18 Then also they who sleep in Christ are perished.

1 Corinthians 15:47

47 The first man was from the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:50

50 But this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

2 Corinthians 2:17

17 For we are not as many, who adulterate the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:4

4 Whose unbelieving minds the god of this world hath blinded, lest the illumination of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine upon them.

2 Corinthians 4:6

6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to inlighten us with the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20

18 And all things are from God, who hath reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation: Namely, 19 that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not imputing their traspasses to them, and hath committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore we are embassadors for Christ, as though God were intreating by us: we beseech you, in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him, who knew no sin, a sin-offering for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God through him.

2 Corinthians 8:3

3 That to their power, I testify, and beyond their power, they were willing of themselves,

2 Corinthians 8:9

9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

14 And I profited in the Jewish religion above many of my years among my countrymen, being more abundantly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

Galatians 2:16

16 and not sinners of the Gentiles, Even we (knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ) have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; because by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Galatians 3:1

1 O thoughtless Galatians, who hath bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you! 2 This only would I learn of you, Did you receive the Spirit, by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:5

5 If it be yet in vain? Doth he that ministreth the Spirit to you, and worketh miracles among you, do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:12

12 Now the law is not of faith; but the man that doeth them, shall live by them.

Galatians 3:24

24 Wherefore the law was our school-master unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 4:17-18

17 They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. 18 Now it is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only while I am present with you.

Galatians 5:3-4

3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect to you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Ephesians 2:17

17 And he came and preached peace to you that were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. 19 Therefore ye are no longer strangers, and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints and of the houshold of God, 20 Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, On whom all the building fitly framed together, 21 groweth into an holy temple in the Lord: 22 On whom ye also are built together, for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Ephesians 3:6

6 That the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and joint-partakers of his promise by Christ through the gospel,

8 Wherefore he saith, Having ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it, but that he also descended first to the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same that ascended also, far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, to the edifying the body of Christ;
