¹⁴ And the walls of the city had twelve foundations, and upon them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; ⁴ Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

¹⁸ And I say also to thee, Thou art Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise master-builder I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon; but let every one take heed how he buildeth thereon. ¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay, than what is laid, which is Jesus Christ: And if any one build on this foundation, gold, silver, costly stones;

⁹ ) And when James, and Cephas, and John, who undoubtedly were pillars, knew the grace that was given to me, they gave the right-hands of fellowships to me and Barnabas, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision: Only they desired that we would be mindful of the poor,

²⁰ Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, On whom all the building fitly framed together,

⁵ Which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it hath now been revealed to the holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit,

¹¹ And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers;

¹⁰ For he looked for the city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

¹⁷ But ye, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, and apostles, and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was a jasper, the second a sapphire, ²⁰ the third a chalcedony, the fourth an emerald, The fifth a sardonyx, the sixth a sardius, the seventh a chrysolite, the eighth a beryl, the ninth a topaz, the tenth a chrysophrase, the eleventh a jacinth, the twelfth an amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, transparent as glass.
