⁴ And he answering him said, Thou sayest. Then said Pilate to the chief priests and the multitude, I find no fault in this man.

¹⁹ While he sat on the judgment-seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered many things to-day in a dream because of him.

²³ And the governour said, Why, what evil hath he done? ²⁴ But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. Then Pilate, seeing, that he could prevail nothing, but rather a tumult was made, took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just man: see ye to it.

¹⁴ And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

²⁶ For such an high priest became us, holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens:

¹⁴ and the people, Said to them, Ye have brought this man to me, as perverting the people; and behold, I having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man, touching the things whereof ye accuse him. ¹⁵ Nor yet Herod; for I sent you to him; and lo, he hath done nothing worthy of death.

²² I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise and release him.

³⁸ Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice. Pilate saith to him, What is truth? And having said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them, I find no fault in him.

⁴ Pilate went out again, and saith to them, Lo, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know, I find no fault in him. ⁵ Then Jesus came forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe, And he saith to them, Behold the man. ⁶ But when the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify, crucify him. Pilate saith to them, Take ye him and crucify him; for I find no fault in him.

¹⁹ But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot,

²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

¹⁸ For Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,
