²⁴ But Jesus did not trust himself to them,

⁴ And Jesus seeing their thoughts said, Why think ye evil in your hearts?

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men; for they will deliver you to the councils, and scourge you in their synagogues.

⁸ And Jesus immediately knowing in his spirit, that they so reasoned in themselves, said to them, Why reason ye thus in your hearts?

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight; but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looking upon him, said, Thou art Simon, the son of Jonah; thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, Peter.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael saith to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see. ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.

⁴² For I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not:

¹⁵ Jesus therefore knowing, that they were about to come and take him by force to make him a king, again retired to the mountain all alone.

³⁰ Now we are sure thou knowest all things, and needest not that any should question thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

¹⁷ He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my sheep. He saith to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

²⁴ And they prayed and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all, shew which of these two thou hast chosen,

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know, that I am he who searcheth the reins and hearts; and I will give you, every man, according to your works.
