⁹ This was the true light, who lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

²³ But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness: if therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness?

⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

⁷ to testify of the light, that all thro' it might believe.

³² Then said Jesus to them, Verily, verily I say unto you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me, may not continue in darkness.

⁶ Jesus saith, I am the way; and the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me.

¹ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh away;

⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ Ye are all children of the light and children of the day: we are not children of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep as the others, but let us awake and keep awake. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.

⁸ If we say, we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

⁸ Again, I do write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you: for the darkness is past away, and the true light now shineth.

²⁰ But we know that the Son of God is come; and he hath given us an understanding that we may know the true one; and we are in the true one, even in his Son Jesus Christ; this is the true God and eternal life.
